Here’s a historical image which requires a mild PL to explain. I live somewhere in southeast Queensland, Australia, and we’ve had an absolute mother of a rain event, the worst some have seen in years. The suburbs around me are (or were) underwater, but I live on a hill so we’re good.
But anyway, this is a photo of a McDonald’s in a town called Lismore, a place a few hours south of Brisbane, in New South Wales.

This Maccas is rather unusual because it is built on the third floor or so sort of height, and the reason for that is because Lismore floods. A lot. So they designed it to withstand significant flooding.
Despite being a building specifically engineered and built to withstand insane flooding, in the past couple days, this Maccas still managed to entirely disappear in one.

As far as any record keeping goes, this extent of flooding has never happened before. This is a first. Some are calling it a 1-in-1,000 year event.
If this does not qualify for a historical photo, then fuck me, what does?
Strange how the Stasi never mentioned “Shit taste in music” for any of their negative qualities1985 Stasi (East German secret police) guide on "negative-decadent youth cultures in the GDR". Basically a list of youth subcultures in East Germany that the government didn't like. Second image is an English translation.

This photo is pretty much the definition of "Fake News" from the media, and characterizes how the Western media handles war.'Nam
True fact, the general about to cap this suspected VC opened up a pizza restaurant in driving distance of me. Small world.

The man being shot in the “Saigon Execution” photo was Nguyễn Văn Lém, also known as Captain Bay Lop, and he was exactly the kind of enemy fighter that Loan’s men were looking for.
According to Lém’s widow, he had disappeared just prior to the Tet Offensive, and according to the soldiers who captured him in Saigon, he was caught practically red-handed leading a Viet Cong hit team tasked with killing National Police members or, if they couldn’t find any, their families instead.
On the morning of the “Saigon Execution” photo, Nguyễn Văn Lém’s death squad had just killed 34 people – seven police officers, two or three Americans, and several police officers’ family members, all bound at the wrists and shot in the head over a pit – and they may have been looking for Loan himself.
Legally, this put Lém in a bad position. He wasn’t wearing a uniform, he wasn’t fighting a battle, and he had evidently committed a major war crime against General Loan’s own subordinates and their kids.
As a war criminal and terrorist, Lém had effectively no protection under the Geneva Conventions and was eligible for summary execution when caught.
Dayum. I knew the guy getting domed was Viet Cong, and thus a clean kill, but I didn't know he was a straight up death squad leader. This photo is pretty much the definition of "Fake News" from the media, and characterizes how the Western media handles war.
True story is here: https://allthatsinteresting.com/saigon-execution
HEre's the important bit:
But the press painted it as a War Crime when in fact it was the summary field execution of a WAR CRIMINAL.
But hey, journalists lie, water's wet, and Brandon shit himself.
Blech. The most epic thing Trump ever did as President.

The photographer obviously faced them toward the sun to light them but then it was too bright which is why the kids are grimacing painfully. I'm pretty sure the girl with the braids is Gudrun Burwitz, who was ultimately a neo-Nazi herself and survived until 2018.Just a funky German man going on a fishing trip with his family.
It was so weird finding out a couple of years before their deaths that she and Edda Goring were still alive only until fairly recently. The photographer obviously faced them toward the sun to light them but then it was too bright which is why the kids are grimacing painfully. I'm pretty sure the girl with the braids is Gudrun Burwitz, who was ultimately a neo-Nazi herself and survived until 2018.
I'm actually somewhat doubtful "neo-Nazi" would even be appropriate. If she was always a Nazi even from childhood maybe she was probably just legitimately a Nazi.
