Today I found out one of my best friends got in a car wreck and ended up with a grand number of injuries including some brain damage.

My 5 year old MBP has a strip on the right side of the screen about 1.5 inches wide that's basically dancing Moonside pixels. I'm a graphic designer and sometimes work on site, some times at home.
At home this isn't an issue since I work off of a 23" cinema monitor. But in the office? I have a very nice set of post-it notes hiding it away before the flashing embeds itself in my retina.
It's definitely a screen issue. I just got the battery replaced because it was fucking up the touchpad. Now I get to weigh buying a refurb with money that I'll scrape from under the couch or sinking money into replacing the screen. As much as I would love a better laptop, just gotta think about the

My day has been decent. I enjoyed eating some chow fan rice for breakfast and I played a good bit of Wizardry 8.Gotta study for exams I have next week. The only bad thing I could think of for today is repeatedly trying to find some stupid flash game my nephew keeps saying he wants to play. I just find it annoying that I have to be the only one that even bothers. Even then, I wonder why he can't just play on the tablet he was given.

I'm currently in the process of St. Patties weekend at work, and the stress of the job is driving me bonkers. Hence, I'm a little tipsy due to the suckiness of the holiday, and that is drawing out the sociable side of me, so I want to talk to everybody even tho typing is a chore for the inebriated and it is very late for me.

Continuing upon my laptop troubles I got up early to get some work done today. I proceeded to have a series of two explosive nosebleeds and got blood all over my computer. It's all around the keys and now I need to go buy some fucking q-tips since Mr. Multiples ran out and go all CSI on this thing.

Went with Mr. Multiples to the Chinese half of my family's luncheon. He got to try some of the authentic dishes that he had never had or even better versions of ones he's had.
Unfortunately most of the dishes had shellfish in them and I couldn't eat that many. I apparently ate something that had shellfish in it anyway because I had to jab myself with my epipen again
I get really butthurt about Chinese New Year every year. Part of it has to do with growing up half white and having everyone (regardless of background) question me as to why I don't act more Chinese or conform to their expectations and why I don't wear a goddamn qipao everywhere.
The other half of it is that I ended up with an adult-onset allergy at 16 so I know how good all that stuff tastes.

and today (even though this August will mark 6 years of being free from an abusive relationship) I realized that my ex would snivel and cry if I tried to teach him how to use an epipen on me because he told me he never wanted to hurt me but then had no problems actually hitting me. I'm not angry at myself any more... just so disgusted that someone could be like that.

My glasses broke in half on the bridge. Also broke in such a way that the tape fix I did comes undone easily and makes them rest at different angles. Nauseous as hell from it.
Other than that, though, pretty good day. Have straight A's in all my classes right now, too.

This woman at starbucks complimented my shoes, and then right before leaving she said real quick, "the rest of your outfit isn't working...". Why the fuck would you say that to someone. I barely leave the house these days because of my appearance, and I nearly panic when I choose a dress to wear on the rare times I do go out, and now I'm just going to hear that bitch every time I get dressed for the next month.

Being half Chinese/White myself, I know that feel. I'm the most Asian-looking of my siblings. I feel like I need to know Mandarin or Cantonese really well or something. However, my Chinese mother is an ABC (American Born Chinese) so she's very Americanized and rarely even speaks the Cantonese-like village dialect of Chinese that she once used with her late relatives. But then again, in the midwestern United States it's hard to find a robust Chinese community. And it's so hard to become integrated into a Chinese community if they all speak Mandarin/Cantonese among themselves uggghhhh...
And coming back from the anime convention, I realize that I'm just not that interested in anime anymore. I wandered the vendors room, ambivalent about buying anything. Not many of the panels appealed to me. Many convention goers seemed juvenile to me. Am I *gasp* growing up and away from anime? Or am I just out-of-touch with the modern popular anime such as Attack on Titan? And believe me, there were soooo many AoT cosplayers everywhere, goddamn.

Just got a new dog.
This is Emma. Initially, I wasn't too keen on the idea of getting another dog so soon after Lola passed, but none of us really liked the idea of our other dog Ashley being lonely. So we spent the last couple of days finding a new dog.
She's real sweet, and like my other dog Ashley, she's a long haired chihuahua. According to the person we bought her from, she isn't expected to get that much bigger or furrier.
I still miss Lola, and nothing will ever replace her. But it's nice to give another little dog a new home.
So yeah, doing better as of now.

As some of you may know, my apartment suffered water damage from a roof leak early this winter. Unfortunately, things are much worse than expected, with a large chunk of the roof and the entire exterior wall needing to be replaced. Because of this, my landlord is moving ahead with renovations, and my family will either need to relocate or pay the same rent for half the unit we used to have because the landlord is dividing the 2000 sq/ft top floor we live on into two units. We've been on a month to month rent for a decade, so we really have no recourse. The landlord has said he will give us time to find new housing, but that's still not that great.
Because of this, we are looking into pursuing a mortgage on a forclosed home. It's around $90k but my mother works as a school bus driver and a 30 year mortgage means the house wouldn't be paid off untill she's in her 80s. She thankfully has credit ratings in the 800 range, but even then it's a really nervous time for us. I'm probably moving out in the next year or so anyway, but I want to see my mother financially secure, ya know?
Because of this, we are looking into pursuing a mortgage on a forclosed home.
