I managed to finish the giant spreadsheet project I was given out of the blue last week to track the amount of money my department makes within the company for my boss' use. I just need to finish putting in the numbers for the last six months and then I can put it up in the all-access folder on our network. And then in the afternoon we were briefly under a tornado warning and the lights were flickering, so I was saving that bitch like my life depended on it.
And the Mexican chain Moe's opened a restaurant where I live so we went there for dinner.

Went around town today, paid some bills. Dropped off payments for the car, the internet, and the mortgage payment. Helped my wife get her time sheets ready for her employer. Brought home McDonald's for lunch. We're going to have a light dinner here.

Not much, been hot lately, currently sitting on an old school bus seat on the balcony in a trollface wifebeater and shorts with laptop on a lap desk thingy, cracked the first bottle of Ninkasi Total Domination IPA of this summer, listening to John Coltrane on my iPod, and pondering the possibilities of me working at a microbrewery in the Eugene brewery district sometime fairly soon... things are altogether quite nice for now.

Yesterday, the 1st, was pretty shitty. It was my Dad's birthday and it just made me realize how much I miss him since he passed away in 2010. Also Sunday morning I rescued two dogs who were on a construction site I was guarding, a male Jack Russel Terrier and a female American Pit Bull Terrier. They spent Sunday night with us and we took them to the animal shelter in the city where the construction site was. Their owners had come home Sunday afternoon to find the dogs gone. They had been calling to the shelter every half hour to see if the dogs showed up. So they came to get the dogs and I was really happy that they were returned to their owners, but it made me realize how much I want another dog. So, yeah, the past 48 hours or so have been kind of a downer for me.

Lovely, sunny, went to a buffet place that would seriously appeal to the Chandlers and already had several
sized customers of different ages, along with a parking lot full of white-trash cars like Aerostars, Dodge Caravans, older Cadillacs and Escorts, but the food was good and they had local Ninkasi beer on draft. Prolly gonna sleep on the balcony tonight, I love doing that on warm summer nights...

My Anthropology/Ecology course started today. Was on my feet from 6 to 5. Gonna be up just as early for a practice canoe paddling trip in Tacoma til 5 again. We'll be doing a 3-day canoe journey later this month...
I should be sleeping but as soon as I got home I slept until midnight and I can't fall back asleep again. Might as well spend my time prepping.

Spent the whole day in the forest that is my back yard, chopping down trees and moving their branches to a pile.

My family was invited to a friend's house to watch the UFC match. While we were there, I played my first real game of Texas Hold'em and played really damn good. I didn't win though.
I was also playing while under the effects of three cans of Pepsi. I was pretty insane.

Had a pretty quiet day. Slipped out of the house before any of my family awoke and went for a 2.5 mile jog. Got back home about later than I would have liked, but I can't run as fast I used to. My knees are completely shot after my surgeries and it hurts to run, but I work out at least three times a week to stay healthy for my family.
Then I came home and cleaned the house and watched the kids while my wife went to work. We were going to have friends over for dinner tonight, but then our dinner plans fell through so we sent out for pizza.

I did a yard sale at the Walmart parking lot yesterday (its a thing where you rent a space for $10). Didn't sell much at all, none of my homemade notebooks sold, moms cookbooks went fast though. My knees and nose got sunburned bad. It was just nice to see people, to be honest. Unemployment keeps you isolated big time.
I went all Chris on the way home and got a 20 pack of mcnuggets & hot mustard.

Quiet day around here. Woke up before the rest of the family, went downstairs and made some coffee and played my Xbox for a little bit. Saw the wife off to work and made some breakfast for the kids. Worked out with my heavy bag for about 40 minutes. Cleaned out some old Christmas decorations from the garage and took them to the crawlspace. Reorganized some things in the shed. Made lunch for the girls. Did some recreational writing, posted some things to the CWCki, talked to my brother on the phone for about an hour. Finally got the girls down for a late nap, but my two-year-old is still fighting it and is periodically fussing from the playpen where I laid her down.

Today at work this woman came in and handed me some weird pamphlet. At first I thought it was a menu to a restaurant so I was like, "Oh okay thanks," and put it down on the front desk and went to go do something else. Then she started speaking to me in broken English about how I need to sign up for this "mediation program" and I have to "subtract distractions" to get to the true world, and in order to do this I need to get rid of my "self".
...looked the group up online and yeah, it's a total cult.
