I have to laugh that this show is so fucking cartoony with its villains, when in the comic even The Comedian, the only character that could be considered undeniably evil, still had more nuance than anyone in this fucking show.

And don't say they don't have time. The motion comic clocks in to about 6 hours.

Yakub!

Reason number (sorry, I lost count) why Reddit needs to be blown off the face of the Earth.
I for one am glad that soyboys are mostly contained in one site.

So is it impossible to enjoy this if you haven’t read the comic don’t give a shit about culture war bullshit and just want an enjoyable show?
Culture war bullshit or not, the show expects you to have read the comic. It references tons of shit from the comic, and doesn't explain any of it, it just then decides to fuck it all up.

The Bluecheckists are weighing in, a group of people where someone like Andy Richter is an intellectual heavyweight.

There's a whole subgenre of responses from the Extremely Online that are like "Moore's distaste for adaptations has been proven wrong, now that there's an adaptation of his work that reflects my cultural preferences back at me!"

Weird, huh, that TV critics are reviewing this weeks episode of Watchmen (written by Lindelof and a former Lost recapper/theorist) in the style of the show! That's almost like something you'd do when you're auditioning for a job...

Alan Sepinwall himself is an absolute hack critic who writes like a circa-1998 Buffy the Vampire Slayer fansite on Geocities.

Andy Richter is a fat faggot.

The stupids unironically believe Nazi Germany was morally superior than the US in their treatment of black people. "The hook" was the German WWI propaganda which Nazi Germany reproduced to wage psyops on black soldiers.

It's a stupid position, but also a revealing one: even if it was true, would that make Nazi Germany less bad overall, considering their treatment of other undesirables?
No.
The only way this has value, even if true, is if you assign vastly disproportionate moral weight to the wellbeing of black people. #WhiteLivesDontMatter

Like I said a few pages back, Watchmen is a show that has the "punch a Nazi!" crowd unironically cheering for Nazism and they don't even realize it. These are the same people who get up in arms about liking Rorshach. Lindelof would be worthy of a standing ovation if he did that on purpose, but he clearly didn't and is just such a ridiculous hack he made a show that preaches the exact opposite message he intended.

The people who say fanboys complaining about this dumpsterfire are just shallow man babies, are the same people who beat themselves off to the wachowskis V for Vendetta adaptation.

So now Dr M is a horny nigger hitting on chicks in a bar, spouting boring pseudo-intellectual bullshit. I can experience that in almost any dive, why would I want to watch it on TV?

Also he's a literal blue Jewish nigger, holeee shit

Yeah, I know a few folk who have never read the comic or heard of a culture war, and they're enjoying it. It's not amazing, but then, I thought the comic was overrated.

I do love every scene with Jeremy Irons.

HBO's best show this year is Chernobyl. It's in a different class.

Like I said its impossible to enjoy this if you read the comic and accept it as a sequel. Its also impossible to enjoy unless your on team orange man bad

Moore gets butthurt about people using and adapting Watchmen but most of the characters in Watchmen were based on existing Charlton Comics characters he wanted to have his way with. Nite Owl = Blue Beetle. Manhattan = Captain Atom. Rorschach = Question. The League was just a blatant collection of other peoples characters. He's a hypocritical old codger. His addled commie brain probably hates copyright and private ownership but gets upset when other people use his creations. Funny how that works. And most of his successes were on the backs of the creations of others.
It's like poetry. It rhymes.

It's a stupid position, but also a revealing one: even if it was true, would that make Nazi Germany less bad overall, considering their treatment of other undesirables?
No.

To be fair, you could say that the orthodox western narrative of WWII is heavily reliant upon assigning vastly disproportionate moral weight to the wellbeing of Jewish people, so that sort of ethnic/racial particularism isn't without precedent.
