What I find fascinating about Watchmen is that the darkest and most violent characters in the story (Comedian and Rorsach) end up being the most moral of the group. Comedian may be an absolutely psychotic monster but even he is horrified by Veidt's plan and Rorsarch is pretty much a horrorcow but is the only one who does not compromise his morals to cover up the truth behind the New York incident. It really is a testament to Moore's writing skill. There also this article about defending the KKK but yeah it was mostly a red scare newspaper.
Whats funny is that Moore intended for Rorschach to be fairly repugnant, but still made him a deeply sympathetic character through his moralism and tragedy. Moore isn’t a hack, he can and does treat the characters he writes with respect. He understands the humanity that underlies even deeply reprehensible people like Veidt, Blake, or Rorschach.
The show would honestly have to be willing to show white supremacist terrorists in some sort of sympathetic or nuanced light in order to reach similar heights. Which is just not going to happen, because politics aside thats a massive task for any writer to take up.

Well Ozymandis is a libtard (or at least that's the face he presents to the public) and also may or may not be a fag. Those two things may be turnoffs. Comedian makes sense thoughIf anything, wouldn't Ozymandias or the Comedian inspire white supremacists? One is an Aryan wet dream and the other is the personification of the jingoistic American nightmare.
Snyder's film did meh at the box office (made back its budget but I'm not sure how much marketing was) and the critical response was at best mildly positive.I just find it so weird that DC keeps trying to make watchmen work outside of Moore himself after time and time again it blows up or bites them in the ass
Before the Watchmen sold well but was panned, IDK how the Snighter movie did but I imagine it was a mixed bag, Doomsday clock is 2 years late and the current head honchos at DC are trying to brush it under the rug for their edgy 5G and all new all different crisis, and then you have this show made by the guy who made Lost.
I get its one of the most popular graphic novels but at some point they have to just throw in the towel.
He liked and worked on the DCAU episode of "for the man who had everything" though that speaks higher of the JLU that they actually decided to contact him and he accepted rather then not even trying at allHe doesn't really like deviations, though to my understanding he liked David Hayter's unused screenplay for Watchmen and was disappointed that it wasn't the version they went with.

It's also a Zack Snyder movie, and his style turns off a lot of people, myself included. The gratuitous slo-mo, the almost torture porn levels of graphic violence... just because you got an R rating to show Dr. Manhattan's cock doesn't mean you need to make absolutely everything R-rated.It's not perfect but I thought the movie was still really good, I never understood why it got such a cold reception and seems mostly forgotten today.

Ya. It doubled down on the shittiness of the first. Felt like it was written by a tankie.Anyone watch the second ep?
