Hazbin Hotel / Helluva Boss Thread - Now a Griefing Thread

It also helps that during the pilot we see how this place really does suck. You have random overlords fighting in the streets with passerbys getting gunned down or blown up. Vaggie telling how Alastor went on this murder spree and thus forth. You watch the show itself and only big overlord fight we had was Al vs Vox in S2. Yet, you'd think this shit would be more common, alliances switching on a dime, overlords constantlt fighting for the various parts of the city, back alley deals an etc. But nope, save for Vox and Al, thede guys seem rather chill with each other.

Overlords to me should've always been akin to Cartel bosses, with all the power and charisma masking over the nihilistic cruelty and barbarity that that title implies. They'd work with each other dividing up territory and soul allocation, partying and being all smiles, but always searching for the right moment to slit each others throats both metaphorically and literally. They'd be the perfect encapsulation of why Hell is Hell, where everyone preys on everyone else and you ultimately really can't trust or be safe with anyone.

Which would play well into Charlies hotel theme, a place where someone not only can have a chance of redemption, but actually someone showing ya trust and compassion for once. If you take this idea and have Angel Dust be the one whom we follow, you kinda do start building this concept: Heres a guy who was born into the mob where trust is much of a formality and whole honor shit. It was always backstabs and climbing over corpses. He ends up in Hell where its the same story, even someone like Cherry, he doesnt trust, because hes waits for that moment where shes gonna stab him. Thus, he ends up in the hotel and from there you work the concept of how Charlies actions and behavior kinda put..mmm...I wanna say cracks in Angels world view.

I think there a chance it would have been a more grounded experience. Since this show desperatly needed a POV/anchor character that the audience can see as their proxy. But, the problem is that and I voiced this before (cannot remember if it was here or /co/), I doubt if this went as this slice of life character story with shenanigens it would be picked up by Amazon. After all, neither Netflix nor Amazon ever abandoned the idea of "We want our own MCU", with Netflix it was the disastorous Cowboy Bebop flop, with Amazon it was Hazbin and now Boss.

Honestly, I think she tried to sell 'em on the epic anime fights and whole Heaven vs Hell angle to gaige the suits interests. Its kinda way more obvious when the shows original bible concept was leaked and how S1 was supposed to go and what we got with Amazon.

If people find the universe and characters engaging, they'll find a slice of life show that's written to be equally engaging worth their time. I mean, that's what caused HH to blow up in popularity and gain such a huge fan following and devoted community in the first place.

The Solomon from the Bible did later a YUUGE fall from grace, him getting 700 wives and 300 concubines. Satan must have been commemorating how he caused that fall of one of God's most holy men.

Another big difference between the pilot and the series proper that I only recently realized when I rewatched the "Inside Every Demon is a Rainbow" song from the pilot. Sure Charlie was being perky and naive (and that's the joke) but a big theme of that song and actually mentioned in the lyrics was actually getting the sinners to stop their bad behavior. Does Charlie in the Amazon show ever once talk about getting the sinners to stop sinning as a step in improving their lives and redeeming themselves? Not really, in fact not at all from what I remember.

If anything, the show mocks that idea during Charlie's song in S2E3, where all her attempts to get Angel to stop being a drug-addicted whore result in failure.

They've got the spicy Spanish guitar playing every time the tall Latina woman is onscreen whose only character trait is her non-entities of children. What more do you want?

Name me any animated show that had an "authetic" depection of Hell, they all did their own unique spins on it and Vivs aint any different. Problem is with how flaky the lore is for both shows, it course comes off as "Oh, this is LA with furries and demons", which is odd because the pilot for Hazbin felt more like Hell than well...the Amazon version.

Robot Hell in Futurama is fairly accurate to what Hell is supposed to be. And the Robot Devil is a really good version of Satan.

But the thing is, Hellborne don't need angelic steel weapons to be perma killed. This kind of scenario is actually wholly possible.

But it will never happen because that would require the Vivziepop and company writing in actual realistic and logical consequences to the actions of their pet characters.

My favorite depiction of Hell that I've ever seen is from the episode A Nice Place to Visit from TV's The Twilight Zone. This is also coincidentally my favorite episode of the show.
