Because Viv wanted Blitzo to be the perpetual victim in the right, she decided to make the circus fire not his fault. I started not liking Helluva Boss so much after the episode where Fizz forgives Blitzo because that episode came right after the Barbie Wire episode where it shows if you are shotty to your friends and family, even if you have a shitty life, then they will leave. Fizz and Blitzo could have just been an occasional team up, an apology and statement, then permanent but civilized goodbye, which Blitzo takes this time in a mature way.

Speaking of, how would you guys have handled Blitzo's personality across the seasons? I think Blitz being an unrepentant dickhead would have got old eventually for the same reason Jerkass Homer got old. On the other hand, IMO he was way funnier as an angry little ball of hate. Blitz hurling obscenities over a parking spot is way better than "Only as creative as you were... flexible." So would you have kept him the same the whole way through or changed him up?

I went over this back when I posted my ideas for a version of Helluva Boss that actually mixed comedy and drama in equal amounts. Essentially IMP is the focus of the show as it should have been while also being a mirror of Blitzo as a person, i.e, the more IMP growths as a business the more Blitzo growths too as a person afterall he's the founder and the heart of the whole operation, his success becomes IMP's (and therefore those of his employees) success.

Blitzø is only the victim when Stolas isn't involved. But anything that does involve Stolas; he then becomes the sole bad guy. Apology tour is a great example of this. I remember way back when Spring Broken came out, Brandon Rogers (the main writer of the episode) said that both Blitzø and Verosika were to blame for the relationship going to shit, and it was hinted that Verosika was an alcoholic while she was dating Blitzø. But now she's the sole victim; not to give sympathy to her per say, but to give Stolas sympathy indirectly.

It's funny how the opposite works for me than what the show intends: when they're laying it thick on the sympathy points for him I give less than two shits; but when pounding on all the unnecessary hatred I start to feel a bit bad for the asshole.

Blitzo would have worked if he was similarly written to House imo. House is a cynical asshole, but people respect him because he's good at what he does and he has moments where it's shown he really does care about people. But for that to happen HB would have to be a project NOT owned by Vivzie.

I like the idea of him basically staying an angry ball of hate, at least on the surface, with the rare occasional break in that. For instance, the Truth Bomb scene in the original D.H.O.R.K.S. episode where he opened up to Moxxie only to realize he'd fucked up and blown his facade and going right back to it.

The two characters actually admitting their feelings for each other (and amazingly without any homosex to it) was good and let the fact they went immediately into a murder rampage together more satisfying. Much like buddy cop movies where the two partners have each other's backs despite being completely different.

No, shes pure like the disabled kid imp. If she was manipulative like this, she'd be seen as a beautiful gay forced into a relationship with an asshole, while fans overlooking her objective flaws. History repeats itself like that, except shed be comparatively better in that relationship.

I’ve also seen the argument that you can’t even blame the guy that hard for freaking out when he sees Loona’s hellhound form. Because to us she’s just some cute furbait, but in the context of this universe he just saw a girl turn into a werewolf from Hell. That would be horrifying to…most people.

Late reply on this subject I know, but you've got me thinking: the scene should've climaxed with a classic ren & stimpy/spongebob-styled "gross close-up", just to REALLY hammer that point home. It's a huge missed opportunity (out of many) for the production team not to do so. Speaking of R&S, just look at this somewhat similarly structured part of a scene from "Fire Dogs" and how better its payoff is in comparison.

I remember the hazbin pilot used that kind of gag but less for framing someone as ugly and more as the kind of "detailed reaction frame for a split second" version. It's actually in the video compilation of clips I found and sent earlier lmao.

EDIT: Found it isolated.

Personally it could have done with more of the usual over-detail instead of more elaborate shading but the gag still gets across when it happens.

So, if this followed even a base level of scripture or theology, no, military members would not go to hell for the killing of enemy combatants as the natural assumption is that they would kill you and as such you are right in defending your life and the lives of others. However, I don’t assume that Viv is that meticulous or nuanced when it comes to that, so I suspect that she’d default to ‘Military Bad’ and send everyone to hell if they weren’t a hippy that wanted to make love and not war. Side note: considering their hatred for Nazis, I honestly ponder their reasoning for why WW2 was a good war, but every other war is wrong and bad.

I remember other media that's depict it like that and I kinda wonder if that's a result of going of other medias depictions of things instead of looking at the original story they're referencing. Even shit they're pulling from that amounts to biblical fanfic like paradise lost/divine comedy in the first place doesn't fuck that up though so it's like a copy of a copy type of thing where they're likely getting that from some other thing that took inspiration from the things they're yoinking the names and circles and shit from.

Either that or it's just coincidence and solely exists for "heben bayud?" stuff.

I remember a lot of people theorizing Sir Pentious was some kind of soldier due to the way he talked and also him wearing a uniform in the finale.

Can't wait to see that become not the case.

I'd say it's a case-by-case basis. Someone killing another soldier in self-defense is one thing, but killing civilians is a different story.
