The only thing I liked about the pilot was Charlie because Disney princess in Hell trying to reform sinners is a great idea for a main character. Couldn't get into the rest so I'm just here for the drama.

That's not what I remember though. I remember her being scared/worried, and her dad having to reassure her he still loved her and wasn't going to abandon her for Blitz. Tbh the parts with Stolas and his daughter were some of my favs, because she's a kid with a pretty realistic reaction to her parents having a toxic/unhealthy relationship and while Stolas is deeply flawed, he still loves his daughter and tries to do the right thing in the end for her.

I don't agree with a lot of the criticism of the show. It's not perfect, but I think people exaggerate or straight up make up shit about it.

She would engage in cancel culture a lot over the years and should have known better that the tactics she used on others would also be used against her. Animation and crappy bosses almost go hand in hand. Jay Ward and Ralph Bakshi had their issues and scummy practices. John was a big fanboy and worked under Ralph on Mighty Mouse.

Back in the day, it sucked but the money was flowing. Paying a mortgage as a tv animator was very possible. Especially, when syndication became big.

VivziePop is your typical SVA NYC student. That school doesn't train animators so much as it trains directors. She is trained to praise her team but was also trained to think less of them.

As others have said before, Viv comes from a wealthy family, and I think that has more to do with her poor behavior than her just being an autistic fujo, though that certainly does make things worse.

She's obviously been enabled her entire life so having multiple people criticizing her, and her work-no matter how reasonable, founded, or constructive that criticism is-, and not giving into her tantrums when she tries to deny any of it is something she just can't handle because it's never happened before.

I'm not sure where people get the impression that Stolas is supposed to be seen as blameless or w/e, since the daughter is the only innocent person in the owl family. A character can be sympathic while still being deeply flawed and making a lot of bad choices (flawless characters tend to be less sympathic no matter how tragic you make their backstory since they're Mary Sues).

There's another episode in S2 with him and his daughter. I'd prefer a character that's a piece of shit over a Mary Sue like James Bond, Littlefoot, or Tommy and Susie from Rugrats.

One thing all of these reviews share in common is that they mention one of two things. The pay is low for industry standards, and disorganisation is present. The $60 per second rate is true and so likely the $35 rate. And favoritism is present, as some get paid around $1000 A WEEK. They also confirm that the higher-ups are all friends. And that any lower-ranking staff get fired. They always need new animators for a reason. "THEY ALSO SPREAD LIES ABOUT FIRED STAFF AND MAKE UP HORRID RUMOURS ABOUT THEM.", and finally, Spindlehorse artists are not paid for revisions.

It says "low pay" and "bullying" but what are the chances these are people with little to no experience? These shows have a lot of animation mistakes and whenever something is trying to look fluid for like an action scene, it just looks kinda off. I could be totally wrong but it wouldn't be surprising if what's really going on here is this studio is more open to people with less experience and the pay reflects that on top of criticism of their work being viewed as bullying cause if so many mistakes are still making it into these shows, you bet a whole lot more are being caught and fixed.

My criticisms of that show don't even touch the gay shit- the writing of its self righteous characters, much like HH, is enough to condemn it to the scrap heap. I just want Viv to keep a cool head, considering she’s leading a team of people and being a rep of her work. Especially working with a corporate studio like Amazon. She might get her stuff dropped after a single season if she’s not careful.
