Have done several volunteer things over the years, most recently hauling stuff for the Food Bank and working in their warehouse to organize donation boxes for hungry folk. Mind you, this was volunteer on top of my regular job. I personally found satisfaction in trying to help others that truly need it.
 
Lol no, I pay taxes. That's more than enough, it's not my fault the government won't use it to help people. Sending the money out of the country as "help" to countries that never gets better does not count.

You're thinking of giving money to charity which isn't the same as doing voluntary work. I don't like it either because there are many organizations that pocket a sum of the money and it's really hard to find ones that can be trusted. The big ones like Red Cross that give help to other countries are shady as hell and I don't support them at all.
 
Yes, I volunteered at a local charity organization. What we did was give away food to poor people, my responsibilities were mainly unloading boxes from the truck, sorting their contents and putting them in bags and handing them over to people who arrived.
I only did it one summer and then left, cause I'm kinda lazy and also back then I was really socially anxious and it was plain stressful for me.

I do view giving someone money as voluntary work, charity is just a different name for the same thing to make it sound "nicer" to the normies.

Giving the responsibility to individual people is incredible shitty of the government, and organisations. Just like waste and green-stuff.
 
Yeah, mainly at a local festival a family friend runs. Helping people set up/tear down their booths, carrying shit, going around making sure everyone's doing good, that kinda thing.
It looks good on a resume and gives me something to do with my weekend.
 
I sorted books at my local library back in high school cuz my mom thought it would look good on college applications in lieu of any extracurriculars. I've also done a fuckton of free work for microbudget indie films before I started landing paid gigs, but that's sadly a very normal practice in the film industry.
 
Used to volunteer at a local library sorting books but quit to finish High School diploma. At the same time, filing for a medical office (now closed and the doctor is dead)
Volunteered at a non-profit: what I disliked was once dragging a very heavy lamp for a woman and plugged it (It didn't work, and the woman didn't buy it). The non-profit also closed.
