I can't give suggestions since I like most Ramen. Some are just trash level, as in the worst instant Ramen which seem to be dry no matter how long you cook or try to add something to soften it.
What I mean is, the packets are full of sodium (of course) and monosodium glutamate aka MSG. it's long term health effects are one thing, but the glutamate is another. It literally plays with your neurotransmitters.

Maruchan is very bleh. It's cheap, but I only have it maybe once every fortnight.
If you wanna tweak it, here's how.
You're gonna want to load up on good veg. Both the common stuff like frozen carrots/broc/cauliflour/spinach/kale/etc. and the "aromatics" like finely diced onions and garlic and maybe even a little ginger or scallion.
You will also want to figure out your preferred spice balance. This ain't much, but the maruchan stock mix is kinda bleh. If you don't like this, go for something like Knorr's boullion powder or something like that. I'll leave you to figure shit out here. Soy Sauce isn't a bad addition if balance right. Chili Powder, Turmeric powder, cayenne, and the like all add bits of flavor while also changing the soup color. Black/White pepper is also good. Don't go into garlic powder/minced onion unless you're a poorfag.
What else do you add? Well, there's a reason this stuff's liked by college students and young adults. Shred whatever meat you got (chicken's classic, but pork/beef/poultry works well. Don't recommend fish.). Poach eggs to your liking. Or, hell, whip up a scrambled egg into the ramen.
However, if you're truly trying to be frugal, I can highly recommend learning how to make fried rice. Ramen's fine, but the issue with the cheaper ones is that the packets just aren't the best flavor-wise and you'll get tired of those. Get a good non-stick skillet or wok or cast iron pan and learn how to whip up fried rice. It's more versatile.
Godspeed, we're possibly looking at a decade or more of maruchan being a staple food if Orange Man doesn't fix the economy. I recommend home-gardening for onions and garlic.

When it comes to instant ramen just focus on what you can add to it to get some nutritional value.

I get the cheap shit myself but I yeet the flavor packets and mix in mixed veggies and chunks of chicken with just a little salt and garlic powder.

i like menraku ramen bowls, specifically the spicy sesame and the tokyo brothless. i usually add either a soft boiled egg, or in the case of brothless noodles, i stir in a raw yolk and scramble the white then add it in.

Maruchan is my favorite since I was little and I have yet to get old of it. I recommend the Lime Chili shrimp noodles as well as having them dry, with lemon juice which makes it even better!
I watched Parasite and started eating the Chappaguri style noodles. With Chappagetti Jajjang black bean noodles which are very tasty and Buldak Noodles mixed becaused I could not get Neoguri in my first attempt. I cook and season the meat separately before mixing everything in with the noodles in the end. Onion, garlic, seasoning for the meat and pepper to taste at the end when mixed together. Has become one of my favorite go to dishes I can have for lunch, dinner or snack.

Pretty good. Ramen is one of those things you can put almost anything in and it'll probably be good to someone. Yes, that includes those horrifying dessert flavors.

Shin tastes good with pretty much any leftover meat. Leftover chili and cheese on top reminds me of budae jjigae
Here in Banania we have been receiving instant noodles from Chinese companies of strange repute, and they are very cheap and pretty good. Also, Brasilian brands like Renata and Turkish imports like Kaldini cover the Maruchan niche of "instant noodles with packaging in the local language".

Oh fuck yeah the one with the liquid packet? That stuff is way way better, but unavailable for most people without a sizeable Korean population I bet. The only place I could find it in my city of a half million was a gas station owned by a korean family.
But yes, it is vastly superior. Better noodle thickness.
