Anyone who's trained dogs knows that that's the worst way to gain a dogs trust. Raising your dog to respect you out of love (and some discipline of course) will make it much more "obedient" because a well raised dog would not want to disappoint its caring owner. If raised under fear it will just fuck off and do what it wants when it gets the chance to get away with it. A good owner has their pets respect them, not fear them.

Hard agree, I love my cat but somedays I feel bad that he has to stay inside all day or he'll kill all the poor birdies and then get run over. It's already bad enough, why would you torment an animal like that? I'm not necessarily against physical discipline in certain circumstances, but it has to be for a very good reason. If you would senselessly hurt an animal for no reason, I think that's possibly the worst morality indicator. Hurting lesser beings just for the fuck of it is pure evil, especially since it would appear that yes, Hasan is just using that dog as a setpiece.

I've had dogs all my life and my dog's claws/dewclaw gets stuck in fabric sometimes and she yelps. They are the most sensitive claw and are prone to infection and breaking which is why they are sometimes surgically removed. Depends on the type of claw and the size/material they lay on. It also tends to happen when you neglect trimming the nails and they get too long.
Maybe I have just been lucky then but the only dog I had who possibly would have yelped like that for ‘getting his claw caught’ was also a rescue who had its ribs broken by the previous owner and was really skittish.
