Both Halo 1 and 2 have Anniversary modes you can toggle on the fly. Halo 1's quality is mixed, but Halo 2 is very impressive. Only problem both share, imho, is that sometimes the old map geometry (door meshes, cliffs, rocks, etc.) don't always line up with the new graphics. Other than that, I say they're both worth playing.
Halo 1 is also made noticably brighter overall, messing with the mood of many scenes.

Adding to this, the only level in either remaster that didn't sit well with me was 343 Guilty Spark in Halo CE. Level was made too bright and the gore was toned down, completely destroying the atmosphere.

Man, wouldn't that be a curveball for the fans that haven't been reading the latest books.

You know what the Infinite could use? An in game codex that can help fill in the gaps, just like the one in Halo Wars 2.

Exactly, the average Halo fan will have no idea that 343 survived, so his return would be a great what the fuck moment.

http://archive.md/tB07b as said before I hope this shit isn't gonna entail what it usually does.

Or, not as bad. :optimistic:
Yeah, what I get from that interview is basically that they're just going back to basics by avoiding huge marketing pushes that overwhelm the player with information and are basically required to know what the hell is going on, and instead telling a simple story of Chief fighting an easy to understand faction on a Halo while uncovering some sort of mystery. It's a good idea, to be honest, because if they want to get mad dosh they need to get new players on board.

I was afraid of the typical reboot dynamic of "old fans will hate it either way but we don't care about them, this is the new age". Thanks for summing that up, really didn't want to read an IGN article fully I guess.

I will say "map", "missions", "upgrades" and "grappling hook" has me decently worried. The new Doom games were great but I enjoy Halo because I can always go back and pick up and play any mission without dealing with bullshit. Halo in CE was a great mission (which is probably their inspiration for the gameplay trailer) but the game still resembled Call of Duty more than Doom. Jumping suicide grunts is fucking hilarious, though.

Also, redesign the fucking magnum. The assault rifle looked great, in fact the general art design looked pretty good, but what the absolute fuck was that magnum. It doesn't even look like the Halo 2 magnum, it looks like a modern day pistol.

At this point I feel we’re reaching peak open world. During the demo when they opened the map, my only thought was “oh, this is going to be 90% pointless filler”.

They should be pushing to make the open world more meaningful rather than just being more stuff. Like a side quest is great and all, but it’d be nice if that side quest mattered during main missions. Like doing one side quest changes enemy reinforcements or opens up new paths during story segments.

New box art for Halo: Infinite.

That's what I disliked about Halo. The levels are so massive, it's easy to get lost. If they're going for bigger is better, then no thanks.

I'm a little on-the-fence about the art style. On one hand, it's definitely better than Halo 4 and 5's look and feel, and yet it isn't quite the same as 1-3. It looks too plastic, like it's missing some grit. Maybe it's just because we haven't seen much UNSC.

Speaking of which, I hope there are marines in this game. I love the old, kinda run-down aesthetic of human technology in the older games (humanity was on its last leg), as well as the personality of the marines and humanity in general. That's halo to me.

Overall, I'm sure this game won't be bad, but it's still a far cry from the original trilogy, which I guess isn't really a bad thing.

Theres only one thing you all should be thinking about.... FUSION COIL FOOTBALL LEAGUE.

343 consistently fails to understand what makes Halo good, they're not a bad studio really, they just have failed to make a Halo game. Halo 4 has a good story and decent multiplayer. Halo 5 has a trash story and good multiplayer. None of those games capture the feeling of Halo and suffer because of that. If 343 made games other than Halo I believe they would be respected in the gaming community, but as it stands they've repeatedly showed an unwillingness or inability to understand what their market desires and expects from them.

Little on the fence but it seems to capture the 30 second rule decently well. No encounter overstayed its welcome. Art style is iffy but it does look enjoyable. I'll wait for more gameplay though.

I think this was an old build, wasn't this demo supposed to be at E3 last month before it got canned?

Regardless, I think it looks decent enough, although the developers need to make the Brutes look sharper.
