According to everyone who saw the first teaser trailer at a convention two days ago, it looks surprisingly amazing, John Carpenter and competent writers may have actually paid off

Isn't it strange Danny McBride is one of the writers? Yeah, that Danny McBride.

I wonder where this will pick up in Canon? What films will this ignore?

Its ignoring all the sequels. It's a sequel to the 1978 one but will have subtle references to the other sequels

Oh. I was gonna say they could possibly handwave h20's ending, but this should be interesting.

This actually sounds pretty good. Wondering how the Laurie-Michael smackdown'll go this time.

All but the original (and I suspect 2), the real question is whether the now non canon films will have some of their elements incorporated into the story? Will Michael still be Laurie's brother? will the Thorn Cult be involved in shit? will the plot be a redo of H20's "laurie faked her death and went into witness protection"? will there be some sly references to Halloween 3?

Honestly...i am struggling not to get my hopes up, but at the very least I hope this ends up being a worthy end to the franchise and not another resurrection/halloween 6.

I'm looking forward to it. From what I've seen it can't be worse then Rob Zombies take on Halloween. So I have some hope.

so they gonna ignore all the sequels that came after the original?
More series should take this approach, instead of going for a reboot.

It's going to definitely be better than Rob Zombie's weird version that tried too hard.

As a fan of the series it is good that they're ignoring the sequels. It was kind of cool how you could piece the sequels together like you can say that Laurie abandoned her daughter, faked her death, and changed her name to get away from Michael and then in the original Halloween 6 when Loomis gets the mark and now has to look over Michael that's how Michael gets the information of where she is and then finds her in H2O.

It is a little weird that they seem to be just completely ignoring Halloween 2, but I guess it makes sense. You have a lot easier time writing him just disappearing in Halloween 1 than him being shot in the eyes and lit on fire.

Damn, part 2 is actually my favorite...sucks it's being ignored. The only other one I like is the first one anyway. tbh having no sequels at all would be so much scarier considering the end of the first one.

I've heard a lot of positive things about this so I'll definitely check this out. How this will fit into the very confused timeline of Halloween movies is anyone's guess. I'm willing to bet that parts 2-8 and the Rob Zombie movies were just a dream.
