GTA San Andreas release 20 years ago today. - Your knee popped when you got out of your chair didnt it?

It was like being in an episode of Miami Vice. I can't describe what it was like being immersed in that setting. The early 90s were special in their own way, but for me the South Central LA world was just something I saw in videos on MTV.
Even though VC is much smaller and technically inferior from a functionality standpoint. It did capture the vibe of the 80s better overall than SA did with it's whole map for the 90s. L.A being 90s golden era of gang banging in LS was perfect but the 2 other cities were just there. Competently for sure but LS was really where the lightning in a bottle was captured. Quality over quantity issue tbf but with the scope and reach of what SA was compared to what they wanted is just mythological.

Was anyone else always really confused why they could never reach the helicopter at the end of the casino heist misson?

It's because for that one specific section, CJ learns how to fly, and you are supposed to glide your way over to the roof first before deploying the parachute. Looks goofy as fuck.

I saw this when I was out of highschool I instantly downloaded a copy to try it and felt like I was lied too for some reason.

Firstly, that's not GTA: TBoGT. Secondly, didn't people complain about San Andreas having a black protagonist way back then?

Maybe on stormfront.

I can't stand this sort of discourse because it's so disingenuous and attempts to obfuscate and undermine nuance. What exactly is the point the person is trying to make? That the world has always been woke so why do we care so much now? When we went to San Fierro it was understood that it was chock full of faggots because it was based on San Francisco and it was well known as the gay capital. That's literally it. There being rainbow flags didn't come with a political message or agenda attached, it was just that this is a gay city, here's a flag that represents us. There's a big difference between gay flags being present in a video game franchise built on satire and being offensive in one singular city in one singular entry in the mid 2000's and a video game or the real world today.

What's next, are we going to pretend faggot flags in Halo: MCC, Call of Duty, and Valheim are agenda free and totally normal and there's always been gay aliens, zombies, and vikings in video games?

Almost forgot, the countryside (I forgot the name of it, Whestone?) has textures of the Confederate flag proudly displayed in Ammu-Nation and some houses.

Yeah exactly, like I saw you say in the GTA thread, old Rockstar was just being accurate in their depictions of their games real life counterparts. In a place like San Fierro or one of those small country towns in the middle of nowhere like Blueberry or whatever it was called; that's just the sort of thing you'd see in real life. A gay flag or a confederate flag. It wasn't Rockstar cosigning something, it was them giving a realistic representation of the places they're basing their game world on.

I'm so glad this is the only "social" website I frequent because I'd want to blow my brains out if I were to subject myself to retarded shit like what you came across.

I want to give the benefit of the doubt that if was a joke post, but those arguments aren't uncommon.

Anyway, if I could change one thing with San Andreas, it'd be a better navigation system. Traveling between cities, especially the countryside, is a chore.

I just used a jetpack like 90% of the time and usually only drove when it was required. I think I cheated so much I corrupted my original save file back in 2004 lmao. My navigation system usually consisted of my placing a waypoint and flying in a straight line towards it lol.

You were. Physics were suddenly and significantly changed with no indication, to such an absurd level that CJ literally flies in a manner resembling Superman, in a context where another approach seems the obviously correct option (pull parachute ASAP then glide over). Should be a case studio in video game design classes on what not to do.
