I saw a blog post about maps in different countries. Of course, most cartographers put their own countries in the center of the map. I remember seeing a map an Australian cartographer made, making the world "upside down" but to his credit he didn't put Australia in the center.

Back on topic: what grinds my gears is people who misinterpret what you say and assume the worst. It's happened to me a few times on the forum. Then again, I've done it a few times, so no one is immune.

That sort of thing happened to one of my friends with a Twitter post, I think they wrote "ugh so hung" and a bunch of people assumed she was talking about being sore after getting fucked by a BIG BLACK DICK. I believe she meant hungover.

I can answer this, the dev team was lazy.

In Morrowind there were 6 melee attack skills
Spear (Included spears obviously. Did shitty damage unless you thrusted with them. Which involved moving backwards while attacking or selecting "Always best attack" in the menu. Then it did extremely well)
Axe (Included hand axes and great axes. Did really damage overall but were slower than swords.)
Blunt Weapon (Included staves, clubs and maces. Did the best damage if you swung overhead by moving forwards. Staves were best for enchanting.)
Long Blade (Included longswords and two handed swords. Were the more balanced in terms of damage and speed overall and there were loads of magical swords you could find in the game)
Short Blade (There were a lot of really unique shortsword/dagger weapons like the Glass Jinkblade which paralyzed enemies. If you were quick you could overwhelm an enemy. Or take advantage of sneak attacks)
Hand-to-hand (arguably the most broken skill. You could exhaust foes which would make them hit less often and fail spells, eventually they'd be knocked out and fall to the ground. You could then switch to a different weapon and kill them with ease)

When they made Oblivion they decided to streamline the shit out of it. By that I mean they removed a lot of unqiue weapons like spears and crossbows and made staves exclusively projectile weapons when they were blunt weapons before. The list was shorted to I shit you not 3 melee attack skills.

Blade (2 handed swords, Longswords, shortswords and daggers. Did better damage if you just kept left clicking. Not worth holding the button down)
Blunt (Clubs, maces and axes. Did better damage if you did a power attack by holding down the button. Too slow for just spamming it)
Hand to Hand (just overall really shitty)

This was entirely done to make the game simpler and because it'd be redundant to have Axes AND blunt weapons as a separate skill when they also removed all the others. When they made Fallout 3 they did as the Dude suggested, combined all melee attacks into one skill. (Which was how F1 and F2 did it). When they made Skyrim rather than have to go through this shit again they instead separated all melee weapons into either one handed or two handed, and removed hand to hand completely.
