Reaching is an understatement. How does one also explain the presence of the vigilante, paramedic and firefighter missions? It couldn't possibly be because also having taxi missions ensures you have a good variety of side activities that were clearly already planned for the game anyway, it was totally to capitalize on the popularity of some random arcade game.
That’s like saying that GTA III killed Gran Turismo because it included a racing mission.

How GTA5 killed Mario Golf
Exactly.

Guess it's time I replay GTA 4.

Is Niko Bellic the best GTA main character, followed by CJ and Toni Cipriani? Discuss.
Toni is definitely the best GTA protagonist to play as. He’s a homicidal mobster that takes no consideration for collateral damage. Cut throat, ruthless, dry, Tony only cares about getting the job done for his superiors. Therefore, I’d feel no qualms of going on rampages in LCS.

I dislike Niko, and pretty much every Rockstar character ever since. The writers drinking the Kool Aid and starting to believe their own hype made them think they were shitting out the next Wire or Sopranos.

Even CJ is unlikeable. Tommy, Claude and the Chinatown Wars guy were pretty great, since they don't pretend to be anything but what they are, and their personality fits the gameplay well.

With CJ, he's being a moralfag one moment, and then running over a bunch of grandmas while the player is in control. Rockstar likely pussied out from making him the nigger equivalent of Tommy for fear of being called racist, so they neutered him and treat the whole thing with kid gloves.

At least CJ can be fat and having a whole different set of quotes.
Can the others do that?
don't forget others dissing fat CJ before starting missions
there is also that woozie mission where if your lung capacity is low you get dissed by him too, GTAIV and GTAV don't even dream of doing this shit.

The series truly peaked in San Andreas

They added so much depth, so many great details that actually added to the world and gameplay.

IV is great too, but it really lacks the depth of San Andreas. (Call me a gay melodramatic, but I feel IV also had the best story of the series and I liked the muted pallette.)

I remember people complaining back when the game released about the hunger mechanic and "excessive" stats like fat, stamina, muscle, etc. Just people saying that they were shoehorning needless features into GTA. But then again that's just how things are, people hated IV when it came out for it's more serious story and driving mechanics but now it's considered one of the best GTA games.

The hunger mechanic isn't much of an issue because it resets if you save your game in a safehouse. If you're regularly saving then you should be good.

The driving in IV also improves when you realize you can turn off the drift cam in the settings so you can actually see when cornering.

I never like to say that IV is “better” than San Andreas and vice versa. They both go in different directions within the GTA formula.

GTA IV and the whole diamonds subplot, with the museum mission with the three POVs in both the main game and EFLC? Perfection.

Also, top three best GTA side-characters that assist the main character no matter what:
- Mike Toreno
- Little Jacob
- Wade Heston

I just don't understand how the diamonds ended up in a park garbage can after being dump in trash truck...
Eventually, Luis and Tony agreed to the hand off and the deal would have gone to plan, if not for the interruption of Bulgarin and his men, who were looking once again to retrieve his diamonds and kill both Luis and Niko. After one of Bulgarin's goons stole the diamonds, Luis fled the scene with Tony and Gracie, but Niko and Packie McReary remained behind and fought to retrieve the stones. When Niko and Packie cornered him, the thug who had taken the diamonds dropped them into a passing garbage truck to ensure that nobody could have them, reasoning that Bulgarin would have later killed him if he was to give them up.

Sill going through Vice City, but hearing so many great things about San Andreas, and the fact that Vice City also suffers from really frustrating missions later on, does make me want to move right on ahead to the latter.

I know that but after that they just end up in a trash can in the park and the bum finds them. I can't reply to someone or quote for some reason, odd.
I think in the OG game it's mentioned that the homeless guy found them in the garbage dump but there is no garbage dump in game so rockstar changed it to a garbage can for the finale of TBOGT
