Business Google fires more workers after CEO says workplace isn’t for politics - 😂

SAN FRANCISCO — Google fired about 20 more workers it said participated in protests denouncing the company’s cloud computing deal with the Israeli government, bringing the total number of workers fired in the past week over the issue to more than 50, according to the activist group representing the workers.
A spokesperson for Google confirmed it had fired more workers after continuing its investigation into the April 16 protests, which included sit-ins at Google’s offices in New York City and Sunnyvale, Calif.
The firings come several days after chief executive Sundar Pichai told employees in a companywide memo that they should not use the company as a “personal platform” or “fight over disruptive issues or debate politics.”
“The corporation is attempting to quash dissent, silence its workers and reassert its power over them,” said Jane Chung, a spokesperson for No Tech for Apartheid, a group that has protested Google’s and Amazon’s contracts with the Israeli government since 2021

The protests at Google are among a wave of opposition to the U.S. government and corporations working with the Israeli government and military. Pro-Palestinian protesters have been arrested in recent days at Yale and Columbia universities, spurring accusations of heavy-handedness by university officials and inspiring another wave of demonstrations at other colleges around the country. The day before the Google sit-ins, activists blocked highways, bridges and airport entrances across the United States to protest the war in Gaza.
At Google, the situation has become a public fight between Google managers and the fired employees. Google says that each worker it fired actively disrupted its offices, while the workers dispute the claims, saying some of those fired did not even enter the company’s office on the day of coordinated demonstrations against the company.
Google has fired workers in the past who publicly criticized the company, but it has not fired this many people at once. For years, Google had a reputation as the most free and open among the Big Tech companies in terms of office culture and collaboration. The company celebrated an internal culture in which employees knew what other teams were working on and were encouraged to question the decisions of leaders.

In his memo to workers, Pichai said the company’s openness was a strength but applied to work topics, not politics.
“We have a culture of vibrant, open discussion that enables us to create amazing products and turn great ideas into action,” he said in the memo, which the company posted online. “But ultimately we are a workplace and our policies and expectations are clear: this is a business.”

Don't bite that hand that feeds pays you. How do these people think they can just protest their employer and not get fired? You aren't unionized and HR never forgets.

Have fun finding a job that pays as much.

Look here, buddy! You can spend 15 straight years advocating for the total destruction of Europeans and their descendants, but don't you fucking dare tell the Jews they can't do whatever they want to whoever they want all of the time!!

You're giving them far too much credit in terms of thought put into it. Palestinians are generally browner than Israelis and therefore are oppressed by them.

That's the lens they see the entire world through.

I was talking about leftists in general no matter how melanated. Still applies even if they only look at it on a scale of skin color.

Suffer, Google. I worked there and was shocked at the lengths that they would go to in order to mitigate their biggest risk- public attention of any kind. Every single bet they have made has been a waste of money. They exist only because their monopoly of search and insertion as middle man for ads has been able to exist without controversy being stirred up enough for the question of "how the fuck is this even legal?" to hit critical mass. I think they even bent to employee protests regarding making a special censored search engine for china? but this gaza war is the gift that keeps on giving, lulz-wise. Of course google has to do what their jew overlords ask, but best believe they are shaking in their boots, totally frightened that these firing will last more than a couple news cycles and #fuckgzionistgoogle will start trending. If the zoomers on tik tok start dabbing or whatever the fuck they do on google about this, its gonna be really funny.

Zoomers are extremely Internet illiterate. They've never lived in a world that was disconnected from Google's supremacy over Internet navigation. They are incapable of doing anything to fight it—even simple things like switching browsers or using something like Bing instead of Google. They may whine on Tik Tok or whatever, but they are not cognitively capable of imagining a world in which Google does not control how they navigate the Internet.

We need a Semitic content rating, but I'll settle for Semper Fi for this, even if it's a total hoot to see some Google fag the literal CEO who presided over at least a decade of wokeshit say this.
It is amazing how suddenly things can change when infinite growth has ended and employees start threatening billion dollar projects.

Shutdown the activists and the small but loud woke minority gets angry.
Do nothing and the shareholders will be majorly pissed next quarterly report.

CEO probably got tired of hearing Null mention Liz Fong-Jones and using his (at)Google email account to harass people. Doubt it, but it's a fun thought.

Here's an interesting thought exercise though. Wait a full year without hiring replacements, while measuring productivity and at the end of the year, see how the results differ. I'm willing to bet, the answer may shock them.

I just hired a zoomer. She told me is that most of her friends use tik tok for shit that used to be done on google exclusively, like finding restaurants and shit to do on a vacation. this doesnt really go against your point, I agree that zoomers dont have any concept of how the internet used to be and most of them are mobilefags exclusively. But what she said about tik tok eating some of google's lunch by way of cutting them out of the search for certain things made me feel a little bit better. One thing is for sure, if Google's algorithm continues to get worse and evil chinese tik tok can take some of their market, its a good thing. I think that the value of zoomers getting on the google hate train is not that they really can do anything about it, but rather that they are starting to drive the conversations on social issues and they are undeniably a voting bloc that politicians are interested in understanding at potentially catering to. I know i know give me all the rainbows, but i wanna be white pilled on this.

Considering how much money Google has wasted over the last 30 years on short-lived, stillborn, or otherwise dead-end tech?

How many headstones are in the Google graveyard......?

How matter-of-factly they indulge in vanity protests and bans of people whose only misstep was political?

It's clear they've been due for someone to upset the market they have a de facto monopoly on and are doing nothing good with, online or offline.

TikTok is one thing, but not what Google should be afraid of.
What will displace web/mobile search and getting recommendations etc will be AI chatbots.
Once someone figures out how to do ads and monetize AI/Chat search then it will be all over for web/mobile ads.

While Google has a pretty long list of research, having prototypes that are a decade ahead of everyone else and then just
failing to commercialize it, until competition catches up to them and launches a superior and commercial product.
The pattern is of inventing something new then ending up as a distant third when it gets commercialized.

This time is different. This time it is not going to be "oh, well, seems like our product failed, who cares" this time not capturing the dominant position in an emerging technology could mean their long-term ads revenue will be destroyed.
This is the first time when failing to capture the market and surrendering it to others will actually have an impact.

Considering that their AI offering has had to be renamed once and un-launched and re-launched twice due to how shit and woke it was, the outlook is not good.

And now even their search engine, once one of the crowning accomplishments of human technology, is now shit compared to Bing.

Wait, Tik Tok has a search engine? Or Zoomers just browse videos until they happen upon information they want?

Because the latter sounds horrible and the most inefficient way I can imagine to get information.

I wouldn't even consider social media apps to be the Internet, which is why I didn't bring up the reliance on Tik Tok. It didn't even occur to me that a special phone application which you can't even use to type in website names and browse text on webpages could be considered by Zoomers as "the Internet." What a clown world.

I guess it's use does hurt Google. Google can't really compete with what Tik Tok offers, though, so I would mainly see the competition in terms of the amount of advertising time through people's screens that once belonged to Google. The conspicuous consumption that mobilefags perpetuate is really sad.

Are you saying that YouTube Shorts is not competitive with TikTok?

Last successful launch of a product developed internally by Google was imo StreetView. That was in 2007.
Think about this, in just a few years Google will have employees that were not even born when their last successful in-house major product was launched.

It's hard to make innovativeness flourish at a company when you're forcing everyone to choke down troon dick and DEI nonsense. Imagine trying to work out a new product when Liz Fong Jones walks into the room and you have to worry about getting excommunicated from the industry for unintentionally saying a "wrong" word within earshot. I'd feel bad for them, if they weren't purposefully trying to make everyone's life worse.

My headstone, for one :). I was working on a dead, gay product and was rightly terminated during the big layoffs early 2023. One of the perks of working for google is that they are so terrified of bad press that they basically had to give all of us very nice severance packages.

I didnt work in a tranny infiltrated area of google, just one of their ill conceived "bets". but i know a person who was not google affiliated, but who encountered dong gong during his weird "kink shaming at google" arc. This is a person who is not the least bit based and is basically a normie tranny sympathizer. But what they told me was that Liz was insane and that every interaction with him was painful because he tried to guilt trip the person I know into feeling like a total piece of shit, even though they were essentially just a third part observer trying to get the story of the kink shaming protest straight.

Yes, thats my view as well. I had no idea that people used the tik tok search to go through videos of "influencers" to find like a gastropub in san diego or whatever the fuck. The mobile doomscrolling is so alienating to me when im around people doing it, but if they have to be on their phones, im glad they are using other shitty apps instead of google.

Great news!

We are living in literal bizarro world timeline at this point! And i love it!

Well if it isn't the consequences of your (leftists/progs/dems) own actions in making or at least enabling. (applying to both google and the people fired)

Just about 2-3 years ago all these faggots (at places like google) were tripping over themselves to denounce and try to cancel the CEOs of tech companies who literally said "enough! work has no place for political activism", complete with media and political hacks complaining as well. (there were even attempts to put pressure to try to oust them) Now here we are.

As for the people kicked out. These are and were the same retards screeching and demanding wrong thinkers get fired.

Maybe there is a little bit of hope.
