Good software for Podcast format media - plz help me

I need to edit a 30ish minute file and do much of what one might expect such as...

* shortening pauses
* removing filler words
* turning down the bass so the audio doesn't kill someone whilst driving

Any suggestions as far as software?

If its just audio try audacity.

If you're going to be doing this often, learn Reaper. For a one-off, Audacity is fine.

And unless a compressor was active at the time of recording, you'll probably want to apply one in post to even out the audio levels.
