Inspired by @Overly Serious' recommendation of Blindsight by Peter Watts, which is available for download on his website for free, what are some other free books that are actually good reads?

nb4 "Use your local library's digital lending system". Yes, that's a great idea and everyone should try it, but that's not what I'm talking about.

Off the top of my head:
Also Project Gutenberg has a ton of them, but I'm curious what you guys personally have read and enjoyed.

I get what you're going for with this thread but I reckon 90% of people with an e-reader just grab anything for "free" off of libgen tbh. so this modus operandi feels like a very artificially imposed restriction.

That's a fair point. I think what I was going for was more "What stories/books that the authors have released for free are actually good?"
So, Blindsight, for example, is available for free and is actually good.
Don't Make Me Think, is also an interesting thing to read.

Less about "Can I get it for free?" than "It's released for free but doesn't suck".

Usually I get books from archive.org because it has a lot of vintage books that I’m looking for. But I do admire your attempt to get people free knowledge. I was debating on having a “grab these rips I got of old VHS’ that I digitized” page on here but most people probably wouldn’t want VHS copies and they can probably get it elsewhere.

"In a cold but stuffy bed-sitting room littered with cigarette ends and half-empty cups of tea, a man in a moth-eaten dressing-gown sits at a rickety table, trying to find room for his typewriter among the piles of dusty papers that surround it. He cannot throw the papers away because the wastepaper basket is already overflowing, and besides, somewhere among the unanswered letters and unpaid bills it is possible that there is a cheque for two guineas which he is nearly certain he forgot to pay into the bank. There are also letters with addresses which ought to be entered in his address book. He has lost his address book, and the thought of looking for it, or indeed of looking for anything, afflicts him with acute suicidal impulses.

He is a man of 35, but looks 50. He is bald, has varicose veins and wears spectacles, or would wear them if his only pair were not chronically lost. If things are normal with him he will be suffering from malnutrition, but if he has recently had a lucky streak he will be suffering from a hangover"

I've always been someone interested in true crime. this book seriously opened my eyes and made me reconsider my whole world view when it comes to shit like that. it's a shame that McGowan died early.
Anyone interested in parapolitics, about the goings on of American intelligence, and "conspiracy theories" oughta read it.
I sound like a crazy person lol. rate me moon it's ok

sorry for derailing the thread and harping on this but there HAS to be better places for this than... that.

don't tell me i'm gonna have to go there brah hell nah man
Its actually a very good image database, aside from the porn. Think of it like Nyaa.si. Although you need an image collation plugin installed, I got one from somewhere which collates all the thread images into zips.
