Gloves with formal dresses?

yep all the time, the problem is finding the right gloves for the outfit. Given they aren't as "fashionable" now a days it takes ages. I have a lot of classic soft tan leather gloves and a couple of nice darker or neutral colours depending on the outfit.

I got some beautiful lace gloves for my wedding recently and that's like the most expensive thing i've bought.

It's a classic look and if you can pull it off with good outfit combos styled with a nice head piece really compliments a look.

Nice, for any occasion in particular?
Not for anything in particular, the gloves were just a good price and good condition and a good fit. My sister said those elbow-length dress gloves are hard to find in a good fit, especially with vintage sizing and since vintage leather may have shrunk over time.

I don't have or wear any formal leather dress gloves, but I do wear leather work gloves (technically shooting gloves, I guess) every day, and my experience has been that they stretch out with use and do not shrink.

I should keep an eye out for some men's ones, I go to thrift stores and antique malls enough that they probably have some good ones.
