I've moved to GitLab as an immediate measure. Might look around for another platforms.

I don't think writing a cop out PR message on their site means they support tards burning buildings. Besides that though, haven't they been retarded for a while now? I remember reading something about hardcore lefties in the OSC causing problems.

"yeah police shouldn't beat the shit out of black people for being black" doesn't equal "hey anarchy and looting is wicked fun".

The sentiment is there and you know it.

Sure lefties like to trawl the site and annoy people, but I can't remember a time when the website itself encouraged violence and anarchy.

This is just garden-variety soy, not some sort of antifa call to arms. If you check out the link they're promoting, it's full of suggestions on writing your representative and calling for legislation, not tossing Molotov cocktails.

I don't know if she still works there, but one of the highest-ranking staff members at github, Alice Goldfuss, has been promoting Antifa violence and anti-white racism for years at this point. People itt that think that github doesn't support the riots are naive.

If we know their stance, it doesn't really matter if they post this message on top, does it?
And if we don't know their stance, I guess this message wouldn't be very much to go on, right?

The point might be moot.

But the people supporting Git Hub and other developer groups at Microsoft have drunk the koolaide. There was the Visual Studio removal of the Santa hat, some version of SJW code of conduct, and such - no? It's not all the same people or even the same orgs, but they are probably closely enough connected that we know what they mean. Just feeling the need to post such a message is cringe.

"Very offensive": Microsoft removes Santa hat on Visual Studio Code icon after backlash

Microsoft came under fire this week for adding a Santa hat to the Settings icon in Visual Studio Code, a code editor developed by Microsoft. A user complained about the addition of the hat on GitHub, a software development platform, saying that the hat was "very offensive."

I don't know how much culture varies from team to team, though. But even then, it probably all has to go through similar channels before such a statement can be approved for release. A bunch of SDEs probably don't decide that they are going to put a notification like this up on their website.

Ahh, finally I can rest easily knowing that my source code is safe with a verified "2020 Virtue Signal" compliant organisation! I was considering switching to GitLab, but this has stayed my hand. Very cool, Microsoft!
