Addiction to shitty tropes like this is exactly why the prequels and digital remaster bullshit trilogy suck so fucking bad.

Having Han shoot first isn't making him a cold blooded killer (are we also supposed to assume he does extensive background checks on the bounties he takes?). It makes him believable as a bounty hunter who has been able to survive in the universe we are presented with. He didn't bother adding a scene where Han is revealed to have some sort of force sensitivity. What human would wait until someone else shoots from a few feet away? How is reacting to another bounty hunter you are arguing with reaching for a blaster the same as being a "cold blooded killer"?

It isn't even a change for the kids. No child would watch that scene and think "hm, it looks like Han murdered that guy."

Who the fuck cares. It was five seconds worth of screentime and changed absolutely nothing about the rest of the movie, the trilogy, the expanded universe, the games, the books, the easy-bake ovens, etc. Why was this ever something of interest?
 
If Han didn't shoot first, he'd be retarded. It was a dumb change to make. Practically every change Lucas made was a bonehead move and he should have just left these movies untouched.
 
I have no idea what George Lucas is rambling about. John Wayne shot people first all the time. The opening scene to "The Shootist" comes to mind, as it's the exact scenario that Han was in with Greedo; A dangerous criminal takes you by surprise and has a gun pointed at your face. John Wayne shoots him first.

I think the only things that should have been fixed were some of the wonky effects. Like the matte outlines of the ships or the integration of the Rancor in "Return". Not things like "Greedo shot first" or shitty slapstick that plagued the prequel trilogy.

In regards to the slapstick, you see that recent fan theory about how Jar Jar was actually an evil Sith Lord manipulating things throughout the prequel and being in cahoots with Palpatine? It's pretty funny.

It's funny how the best film of the entire saga was the one he dint direct ( empire strikes back).
Im gonna try to download the fan remaster that only enhanced the picture quality before watching the new one.

Empire special edition wasn't that bad. Really stepped up how bad the rebels got their shit pushed in on Hoth.
