So what's the deal with that? i keep seeing posts about boomers being selfish, genz being stupid and so on and most of those points are fairly valid on both ends, but the hype has been very wild.

It's cultural astrology. You can't help being born when you were, which makes it appealing to the masses. You can help identifying with a generation so much that you lose all sense of personality.

Boomers going from boring and "holding back Progress" to degenerate and selfish is a new development in my view. I keep seeing that more and more. When did that happen?

I think it started from the right wing Gen Z. Movements such as the sexual revolution, feminism, etc which occurred during the Boomers' time are percieved as the roots as modern-day leftism. For the belief of Boomers being selfish, there's this idea that they gladly sit by in their big empty homes while their children struggle day-to-day to make ends meet in a city far away and that they only care about their own interests, they'd sooner spend hundreds of thousands on extending their lifespan by a few months rather than lifting a hand to help their children.

The boomers are selfish thing was shocking to me because I don't know of any like that personally, but I can definitely believe it. It seems like an upper middle class issue.
Gen Z hate, the stuff I see at least, is practically propaganda, taking a tiktok from one retard and claiming that all gen z do whatever utterly ridiculous thing it is that they're doing. The boomers eat it up on facebook.
I like millennial hate because it was a trend for a while to act like millennials were the cool older sibling of gen z, I think it was a surprise for some when zoomers started mocking millennials for being old and out of touch.

It's just the zoomers skinwalking the boomers they'll never have the level of influence of that do that for the most part from what I've seen.

Id say the boomer hate is rooted in a combination of jealousy on account of the sheer wealth difference and opportunities the boomers had when they were young versus the general desolation the youngins have to suffer now, what I think supercharges the boomer bashing is their own attitude of a firm handshake and assuming things were the same as they were kids, combined with the open secret that social security is likely to be insolvent or at least butchered with a hacksaw long before the zoomers and millennials could claim and the out of control housing prices which boomers profit from and youngins suffer.
In my own personal life the few boomers who I know which I talk to about the state of affairs with break the stereotype and know how bad things are, however my area has been an impoverished shit hole for a while so they are probably at terms with the situation at hand.

It’s a movement to fragment us along generational lines and reduce the extended family. It’s fuelled by the fact that the resources we had, environment and physical and financial have been strip mined by a small number of that generation.

Yeah my parents are boomers. Worked really hard, we were poor when I was a kid, and now they’re lower middle sort of comfy. I begrudge them nothing, they worked for it, they own their small modest home and have small modest pensions. They worked hard for all of it and grew up with rationing, in houses with no central heating. I want them to enjoy their last years. They’re generous with what they have even though it isn’t much. They supported me when I wanted to go to uni even though it wasn’t financial support. They’ve always been there for me.
Not all boomers.
A portion of them are the asset stripping slice of society.
I guess having everyone resent their granny rather than looking up the social hierarchy keeps the conflict away from them
