General Wrestling Discussion

On one hand, he was arrested for DWI at Myrtle Beach. Cops down there target people for public intoxication very regularly.

On the other hand, Jeff willingly chose to go to Myrtle Beach, a known hangout for trailer trash that has a very active police presence (because trailer trash).
Meh, it's Jeff. At this point I'm surprised he doesn't just uber everywhere or something.

unrelated, LA Park wrestled Sam Adonis up in Queens the other day
I haven't watched it yet, it might be shit because I've seen lucha guys kinda half-ass shit the further they get from the border (NY especially)
but LA Park at even half-ass is still a lot of ass so it should work out, and Sam Adonis is this guy, brother of Corey Graves

edit- I watched the first minute and a half and Sam has his Trump shit so this is has a decent chance of at least being three AYYYYYYYYY PUTOs out of five
postwatch edit- yeah it's a nice enough random indie lucha match, waaaaaaaaay better than that awful pile of nothing Psycho and Wagner had in New York

He's okay, but he's no Mamba.

As far as I know he's sold his life story to movies a couple of times. And iirc he got the idea of wrestling while in seminary from a movie about a fictional guy who did it or something, too.

I like Nacho Libre, but I've always felt that the story it drew influence from deserved a better, more dramatic take. I've always wanted to see the tale of Fray Tormenta done with the same amount of care and thought as The Wrestler.

Wouldn't surprise me if we see him debut with the WWE and beat his father's record as the youngest WWE Champion. Brock's son has a great look but he doesn't look at tall as his father. So it would be hard to push him as a younger version of his father if he's about the same size as the average Joe. He needs to come across as an unshackled baphomet on a path of destruction.

Well, Rey Mysterio's son is taller than him, so is Scott Hall's son, or Chris Benoit's first son. Undertaker's son, well...

By the way I misread his name as Lex Luger. Luke Lesnar looks like something Vince will sign up in a heartbeat. As long as he's committed and doesn't just make one appearance every three weeks.

By the way that pic might be a hoax and could be from someone else's Instagram:

Regarding Sonny, I hope AEW utilizes him beyond his obvious gimmick. He is incredibly talented, but gets bo
I think Sonny has potential but he's got to work on his offense. His stuff is softer than a baby blanket. He's got charisma and he's very athletic but everything he did looked so weak.

Show was fine overall and Kenny/CIMA was the best match IMO. However, there's still the persistent production issues and they need to get better at timing their shows out. But I think the biggest problem they are eventually going to need to come to terms with is what do they do when their friends just aren't working. The Librarians continue to feel like a joke that no one's laughing at, the Dark Order still feels flat despite a good showing (especially from Stu Grayson), and Adam Page is not at the level of a world title opponent for Chris Jericho. Granted, their booking is doing him no favors (nineteen and a half minutes with Kip Sabian, still no promo response to heels dogging on him) but I see him and wonder why Cody isn't the guy going against Jericho.

Oh, and there were too many people at ringside getting involved with matches. Hell, Chris Daniels was doing dives and brawling with the Lucha Bros for a couple of minutes before getting ejected. If they are that dead-set on not having DQs then just don't do spots like that.

Just to end on a couple of positive notes because I did like the show, I thought Sammy Guevara and Darby Allin were great in the six-man and the women were good even though Britt Baker got rocked early. Also I loved the Jungle Boy and Luchasaurus team.

Anyone been watching G1? I was really impressed by Jeff Cobb, who I really hadn't seen much of since I don't watch ROH. I just started watching NJPW about six months ago and I love it. It's the same kind of enjoyment I remember from when ECW started getting airtime back in the late 90s.

funny how Brock Lesnar married Sable and has never once brought her on TV with him. If she had married any other wrestler she'd still be wrestling today. He patrolled that thot well.

The one things I'm concerned about from watching AEW's events so far is the match lengths. I understand that they let the wrestlers have a lot of leeway in laying out their matches and all, but having almost every mid-card match be 10-15 minutes in length hurts the pacing IMO. Having 1 or 2 squash matches in there might help a bit. Granted, their mid-card is still pretty underdeveloped at this point, and their upper-card pretty much have to wrestle each other to keep their buy rates strong, so it's a bit harder to have a squash match in there, but still, I think it would be nice once in a while. Hopefully it's something they'll do once they have a regular TV broadcast.

Jeff Cobb and Keith Lee are both beasts. Incredible performers. Big lads who aren’t afraid to take a bump. I had the pleasure of watching Jeff Cobb at a Progress Wrestling show some time ago.

The fact that people are celebrating Brocks title win as a good thing, just shows the absolute state of the WWE program and it's fans.

They deserve to be laughed at for having the memory of a Goldfish.

I'm fine with it. With the exception of the Styles match, Rollins' run as champ has been lousy as fuck and shoving Becky Lynch in onn top of it made it worse imo. I guess we're gonna ignore the "We want Lesnar, No we don't" chant during the Kingston/Joe match?

Making Lesnar the champion is not the solution though. Yes, Rollins run as champ sucked, but what is the point of giving it back to Lesnar?

It's not putting over anyone, it dosen't help the shit ratings and the champion will only defend it, if the Paycheck is big enough.

It's almost like Vince gets off on the idea on making his shows as shit as possible and putting no one over in the process.

Not every title change is done with the goal of immediately getting someone over. For example, Charlotte beating Asuka for the Smackdown Womens champ was a means to get Becky Two Belts. They booked Lesnar's MITB as a done deal for whichever champion he'd chose to cash it on. There's a cross brand battle royale tonight to decide who faces Brock at Summerslam. We could have potential challengers like Rollins and Strowman, but always new guys like Lashley, Mcintyre, Corbin, and Bray Wyatt. I personally don't give a shit about ratings seeing as it doesn't affect me. I know there's a massive hateboner for Vince and everything WWE, but I'll looking foreword to see where we go from here. I found things don't really begin to pick up until Summerslam this time of the year.

In the past 5 years, he's had at least 3 reigns of about 6 months or more, they all sucked ass, too. I can do anything but shake my head at this company's television programming, Its a bummer considering the video packages and PPVs are almost always on point.

Eh...my take on AEW: They're forcing The Elite and their shit jokes (The Librarians) on the fans. Young Bucks win every match. Page wins every match. Omega lost only once to Jericho. A Rhodes brother always seems to lose in order to draw the sympathy card. Brandi is playing the Stephanie McMahon role with the women's division.

The wrestling is good, but the outcomes are getting predictable.

To be fair they have a shitload of people that seem to like The Elite and similar islamic content. I don't like most of it but I'm not paying for it so I don't know how relevant appealing to me is compared to some goober buying Funko Pops of the Bucks at Hot Topic.
I know if I wanted to make money I'd try to hit them more then me.
