Maybe it'll be more incentive for him to bust his ass seeing as the Time-Warner merger shafted him on buying out WCW thanks to them taking away the TV time.

Now that aside here's a question I haven't seen posed yet but just how able is Cody Rhodes as a booker? I mean look at my avatar it's The Dream one of the greats but when he did booking he had a history of favoritism and keeping himself in the limelight longer than he should have heck they even named a match finish after him so what I'm asking is will the sins of the father rub off onto the son?

Cody already booked himself to win the NWA championship, so at least he got that out of the way.

I think it's a mix of goals.
It makes sure they can't help AEW, there's a chance they might be able to make lolWWE not suck, and they can later be used as scapegoats.

That shit might fly with Bischoff given his less than steller record when it comes to booking, but no one would buy Heyman being responsible for the company's creative slump. Even if you ignore his work in ECW, you can point to his time as head writer for Smackdown from 2002 to 2003. He made what was supposed to be their B show into must-see television.
 
What a weird day it must be for Paul Heyman? First, he finds out that he was almost the victim of a Tommy Dreamer murder suicide. Then he lands a big executive director job with WWE.

And speaking of which, Vince Russo is the latest trying to get a piece of the FOX deal with WWE. He released a video on YouTube talking about calling the network to be a consultant, basically the same thing he did with Destination America during the TNA deal:

The Invasion PPV did get the highest non Wrestlemania buyrate in the companies history so who knows. These are some interesting times for the business and time will tell in the coming months.

I think the Invasion made a lot is probably because the fans thought that time this is where the big players of WCW will finally debut. They never came, we just got Austin joining the Alliance. Doesn’t help through out the PPV, JR name dropped a few names such as Kevin Nash, Ric Flair and Sting.

Apparently Heyman and Bischoff have new corporate titles that required board of director approval and they've been working on them getting announced into these positions for several months now. How much "creative control" Vince McMahon lets them have is anybody's guess.

There does seem to be a power struggle between networks, investors, advertisers and creative against Vince, there's a little slipping, some "panic-booking" going on by the looks of it. They might just be volunteering to be the fall guys for boatloads of cash, though. That'd be the worst case scenario, if they truly had some interesting and good concepts and ideas and booking plans, but they all got tinkered with and kibosh'd by Vince. Then he'd have the green light to say his way is the right way and all the others lost to him for a reason and its back to the SUCH GOOD SHIT way of doing things.

The Original Dusty Finish is an excellent finish, provided it's done once every seven years.

The problem with Dusty's that he did it every month. He left such a sour taste by overdoing it, the subversion of it in Flair/Steamboat at ChiTown in '89 was used to regain the respect of the fans.

Not that it mattered. Once the Pizza Guy came along, things got way worse than they ever did under Dusty. But at least we'll always have the wonders of '89 WCW on tape for enjoyment.

Hey, Spartacus would've done gangbusters had Flair been a team player! With all this talk of Heyman and Bischoff, they need to make Mr. Herd a consultant. And maybe then I can finally fulfill my dream of seeing the unpinnable humpback wrestler!
 
Fyter Fest was overall a good show. Not as good or as easy to watch as Double or Nothing but I wasn't expecting that. The main event six-man was excellent, go out of your way to see that if nothing else. I thought Cody/Darby was pretty good too even though I'm pretty sure Darby is going to get himself killed one day. Moxley/Janela was a fun hardcore fight too.

Weakest parts of the show were:

1. The Librarian. Everything about this gimmick has go away heat with me and it got near silence from the crowd. Doesn't help that Leva Bates had a particularly bad night when it came to wrestling. Sadly, I see them continuing to try and get this goofy crap over for whatever reason.

2. Production still has some issues. They missed some spots throughout the night and, in general, I felt there were too many camera cuts.

3. I still don't see anything to Page that says "world title contender". He's a solid hand but the lack of a real presence or personality keeps me from being engaged.

I don't know if I'll watch Fight for the Fallen in a couple of weeks but that has more to do with following the G1. I'll try watching it when I get the chance though. CIMA/Omega should be awesome.
 
Interesting show tonight. A lot of the stuff felt really corny, especially for a promotion that is as mainstream as they hope to be/are. The librarian shit has got to go, and the hardcore match on the pre-show with arcade sticks and GameCube controllers was beyond cringe. Even the Street Fighter stuff with the Bucks seemed really bush league and came off as quirky indie shit that should be below them. I feel like if they do that type of stuff on TNT they are going to find it hard to draw in new fans. I realize that this wasn't billed as a big show, but still.

yeah I caught a bit here and there and it largely reminded me of why I don't like the Bucks, although realistically as a Penta mark I'm not sure I have a moral high ground to bitch about them coming out dressed like 90s fighting game characters
