General Wrestling Discussion

Somehow I forgot the Saudi show was today, despite being reminded about it by multiple people. Sounds like it was about as much of a disaster as was to be expected.

Apparently it was like 100+ degrees inside the stadium

From personal experience, the heat isn't the only problem, the humidity is a killer in that region (in some places it can get to over 80% in late summer). It's a credit to the wrestlers' conditioning they were able to perform at all.

It was a mistake to hold this show in June. They should just do one show a year in November when it's more reasonable. The Crown Prince probably insisted on this time because it was right after Ramadan.

Man that Goldberg Undertaker match:

Full match if anyone wants to see this mess. It's amazingly awful.
I wonder which exceptional individual came up with the idea to let two guys in their mid 50s have a 1 on 1 match, in these exhausting weather conditions on top of that. Match should've been over after Goldberg hit his head on the pole. Goldberg's knee bar was a shoot too and you could see Taker couldn't put any real weight onto his left knee afterwards. Goldberg suffered a concussion for sure.

Taker vs Goldberg should have happened 15 years ago. This right here is why they both should retire. Taker can work, but he needs younger guys to work with to make it worth to watch to an extent now.

After this... Taker needs one last match and retire, but not this garbage. I don't want this match to be it. He should have retired after losing to Roman. At least that match didn't suck major ass.

And Goldberg, go away. You suck.

Oh, Bix...

They were both out of gas inside of two minutes. Just a depressing mess all around.

Speaking of old WWE wrestlers, I really want Ken Shamrock and Steve Blackman for AEW, and get CM Punk too.
I'm not too sure about Chicago Man Phil. I remember hearing his cameo at Local Wrestling Venue's Final Show he wasn't looking too good. And his mma stuff he might as well have been Brooklyn Brawler.
At least in AEW he wouldn't have so many giant guys around him, and maybe he could go back to the Anaconda Vice. GTS always looked like shit if the guy was taller than Punk, which was basically everybody in WWE.

Punk's problem was always that he has no natural athleticism whatsoever. He's probably the least-athletic major hand WWE's ever had. Including Mick Foley, who once compared himself to a three-toed sloth. But he made up for it with lots of experience, tremendous knowledge on how to put a match together, and the best promos in the business.

It'll take some time to get his ring rust off, and his MMA fights were dumber ideas than José Canseco's; but even those won't be enough to sink the potential interest for his matches, especially with Jericho and Cabana (assuming he gets signed, and Punk can stomach working a program with someone he legit despises), as long as he has enough training matches in the back to get himself properly prepped.

AAA live tonight, probably starts 7:45ish Eastern
for legit live feeds in English and Spanish
probably Adrian (the squeaky voiced guy) and the other guy on English, although Vamp seems to be getting over his alzheimers so he may replace the other guy at some point down the line
this is a card that's been put out for tonight's show, there's probably most of these people, maybe some of these matches, usually a good enough show either way

Oldberg didn't even have any business in the ring a decade ago, and he seems physically incapable wrestling now without hurting himself. (Anyone else remember when he was supposedly meant to be a match for Bork Lazar a year or two ago, despite somehow not even being able to even WALK out to the ring without completely gassing himself... Or that time he gave himself a concussion because his stupid ass decided to headbutt a door, and he came out to the ring to give a promo clearly fucked up?)

Taker is a sadder case. Yeah, he's clearly way too old to be wrestling, but unlike Oldberg, I feel like he could still go if he really needed to with an opponent that could carry him. Regardless, that match was a train wreck... Exactly what a shithole like Saudi Arabia deserved.

I'm hoping this doesn't blow back in Finn's face somehow. It takes some brass balls to pull some shit like this and I respect him for it.
