General Wrestling Discussion

Hell's frozen over again. Kenny Omega and the Young Bucks are mentioned on a WWE video (albeit to promote their SFV match against the New Day at E3)

The fact that WWE is even going along with, much less is actively supporting this seems crazy to me. Maybe for WWE it's a way to court the Bucks and Omega for a big money deal or something? Smackdown just got the company two billion dollars, that buys a lot of promotion kneecapping.

i don't think they see njpw as a threat (they let jericho work the shows). but also i do agree they are going to go all in on trying to sign the elite when their contracts are up

CMLL is live now for Friday Nights, feed via super lucha nerd Cubsfan.
Card features Rey Fenix in the main event and a possible Penta El 0M (Pentagon jr) run-in in the singles match probably 10:30ish (very ish) Eastern. He's widely expected to be imminent to CMLL, and Penta's been getting into shit with Caristico (original Sin Cara/Mistico) and Dragon Lee lately on the indies, and he's apparently not busy elsewhere tonight.

Edit: it was a nice match but no Penta.

Xavier Woods! No, really. Konami apparently announced it a couple of days ago.

I forgot it was his birthday yesterday, he would have been 59 today. Oh well, always believe. Just don't believe in that comic about him back in 96.

I read the play-by-play of the Punk/Jackson fight on Bloody Elbow. When random commentators say Punks face is a bloody mess, it's a friggin mess.

Also of note: Dana White said both Punk and Jackson were done in the promotion. Punk for being absolutely terrible and Jackson for not attempting to finish the fight (which he had multiple opportunities to do so, even allowing Punk back up after a clean knockdown punch). See you in September, Punk!
Punk wont wrestle again, the whole shit with the WWE pretty much ruined that, if that "doctor" didn't try a defamation lawsuit on him and waste so many years of his life things would have been different but that caused too much undo stress on him and the WWE knew that. He will just find another place to do MMA.

At least Punk learned one thing from his wrestling days: if you’re enough of an ass, people will pay money to watch you get punched in the face.

For anyone who didn't catch this, it's a pretty quality watch.

Seems like the two of them realized Kenny would body Austin, so they booked it out like a wrestling match complete with The Cleaner going full-heel at the end and cutting a promo on the crowd.

I guess it was gonna happen anyways since his health was in jeopardy and his doctor said his heart had a few years, still RIP. It’s Vader time up there.

He said he had two years to live. That was said two years ago. We all tried to be more optimistic and hoped to god that it was a misdiagnosis, but reality hit and it hit hard. Almost as hard as Vader's forearms.

Vader was one of my favorites as a kid. There were two things that always made me "mark out": Vader's mastodon mask and the Undertaker's theme (when that *GONG* hits, it's goosebumps).

RBI, Vader.

Meanwhile in the lolWWE department, ROH tried to book Madison Square Garden. WWE did some shit with MSG to make MSG back out. ROH's parent company, Sinclair, owns one in five Fox affiliates. Online chatter says they're now considering to elect to not carry Smackdown when it moves to Fox.

So to spite another company over using an arena they don't even use much anymore and have been routinely putting other arenas ahead of for a while, WWE may have drastically reduced the TV coverage from their new TV deal.

Man Vader was one of the biggest inspirations to my career and knowing he's gone has kinda fucked my moral now, whos next? Sgt Slaughter? I mean fuck I now full understand the pain and emotion "It's still real to me damnit" guy felt when that video was taken.
