General Wrestling Discussion

Sure, but nothing over three fucking minutes, and usually with a fuck finish, is not a good show either.

Violent J seems to have some say in things, as most of the few matches you get on Lunacy are around 10 minutes, but the poor booking and mediocre talent makes it just as bad as 90-second run-in DQs all night.
Fuck finishes, or Dusty finishes have a place in wrestling but they need to be used sparingly or when it makes sense

There is a sweet spot for wrestling shows to do both matches and angles/vignettes/promos/skits, it can be done and I don't think it needs to be one has to completely ever take precedent over the other.

I imagine the people looking at the front page are wondering why this thread is suddenly in the active threads.
He appears to have calmed down now. While people shouldn’t bait him, he shouldn’t take the bait as if he were a literal fish that cannot think beyond “yummy worm”. Let’s not infantilize him, he should know better by now.

Absolutely. I grew up with the last gasp of Stampede Wrestling as my favorite, and their one-hour show was usually 4 matches, one at 5 minutes, two at 10 and a 20-minute time limit main event, with interviews by the legendary Ed Whalen and recaps and announcements from Stu Hart to fill the rest of the time. Maybe 1 or 2 matches a week went to DQ, maybe once a month there’d be a run-in or a schmozz, but usually you got clean finishes.

The best show of theirs I ever saw was when they showed the full 30-minutes of Owen Hart winning the North American title from Makkhan Singh (Mike Shaw, aka Bastion Booger, Trucker Norm, Norman the Lunatic) in a bloody, violent and cathartic battle.

Juggalos are notoriously entertained by seedy shit.
It's true. I haven't been a juggalo for many years now, but I have many fond memories of going to Psychopathic shows. Seeing 2 Live Crew open for them 20+ years ago was a hoot. I'm not sure what to expect from JCW, but I'm pretty sure it will at least be highly entertaining.

Edit- I'm watching JCW Lunacy 91 right now. I have no idea who any of the characters besides Violent J are, but I am thoroughly sports-entertained so far.

I've heard that Gathering of the Juggalos is full of degeneracy but I have never gone nor do I want to go

Like I said, if you were really that upset about it you'd be upset at the MAGAloid who brought it up again.
Yet again pushing the blame on anyone but yourself. You can't take accountability for anything even though you're always the one in the center of the drama, CM Punk.
You're just lying and are upset that I don't like Dear Leader,
Fuck me dead, here we go again...
which is why you hide your post history like a little bitch.
I was told to do that, not recommended, TOLD to do that by a mod because of a drama scenario that wasn't far off from yours where you kept getting tagged. But except where it was a bunch of people dunking on you it was just one guy who wouldn't leave me alone so I was told "private your fucking shit" by a mod.
Furthermore if anyone is demonstrating bitch behaviour in that scenario it would be you trying to creep through my post history like a girlfriend trying to catch her boyfriend cheating.

Just let it die so the thread can be about wrestling.

Speaking of letting things die they seriously just need to let Bayley go the fuck over to AEW.
Also what is this playing favourites shit with DiarRhea Ripley? Forgive me if I'm wrong because there was a few years where I stopped watching wrestling, but wasn't the rule that you had to defend the belt every 30 days or relinquish it?

It's extremely fucking gay. I don't think WWE has ever done the "interim" champion shit, because it's such bullshit.

Might as well run around the ring with a megaphone yelling "This shit is fake and gay! You're all retarded!" While handing out pamphlets on how to stop being a mark.

Yeah, interim champ in a worked sport is fucking stupid.

Strip the champ, have who you wanted to be interim champ win the belt, when old champ comes back have them win against the new champ if you want them to be champ again.

In all fairness Tony did the same stupid shit with Thunder Rosa and CM Punk when they got hurt with the title. I remember thunder had that title for about 4 months without defending it and I knew the reason that they were letting her hold it for so long is that they had no plans to ever let her hold that shit again. Just Tony Khan fulfilling contractual obligations to the NWA.
My outlook is if a wrestler gets injured let them keep the belt for a week or two to save face so they don't look like a Sami Zayn paper champion, and then let them relinquish it on TV due to injury, preferably on the go home show. That way you can set up a surprise match between the number one contender and whoever the fuck you want to get a pop out of the crowd and get views.
Imagine if Roman broke his leg at whatever the last PLE was because I haven't been watching WWE for a few months. Let him come out in a wheelchair and crow about how he's going to hold on to the belt until he is healed up. Then at the go home show Rollins comes out whining about how they're not going to be able to wrestle each other for the 30th time and Adam Pierce comes out and says we're stripping the belt off of Roman and it's going to be you versus *insert deserving wrestler here*
It feels to me that bookers are terrified to do last minute shit these days. They would rather have interim champions for a fake ass sport then wing it and make it interesting.

Rosa also wasn’t completely forthcoming about how much pain her back was causing her, and when examined it ended up being far more severe of an injury than expected, so her effort to work through it fucked things totally up.

Rhea moves merch, gets social media engagement, and is over. So of course there'd be some preferential treatment but there's also the fact she's Triple H's pet project. I'm pretty sure Charles got the exact same kind of favoritism from both HGH and Vince but being HGH's chosen one with him as booker guarantees he'll do what he can to placate her.

I haven't heard rumors of her acting like a total headcase yet, but it won't shock me if eventually she turns into a massive locker room problem, I don't wanna be a doomer but the track record in women's wrestling...

Is it so hard to just do a tournament instead for the title instead of this interim shit? Common sense dictates that if you can't defend your title on TV/PPV for a specific amount of time, you'll have to relinquish it.
Again, she's HGH's chosen one. Either he doesn't wanna take the belt off her or she's not playing ball, this would honestly have been the best time to try and push anyone else and experiment but HGH plays it so safe the idea is alien to him.

WWE doesn't have any plans for anybody else as champion aside from Rhea. They'll do Rhea vs the interim champion when she comes back then keep the belt on Rhea so she can win the meaningless Crown Jewel match against IYO. That's the "long term" plan here.

I find it mystifying that anyone is shocked by how stale and stodgy HGH’s booking is. NXT was so fucking safe, pattern-locked and predictable when he booked it that my kid and I quit watching after five months because we could literally predict the outcome of every single fucking match on every show, and the plot of every single feud down to what would be said in the promos.

I like women's wrestling better than men's wrestling but that doesn't mean that I don't watch men's wrestling.
If you want to limit yourself and basically fuck yourself out of half a great show, more power to you I guess.
Like I said, to each their own. It just personally isn't my thing. I'm not dogging it, it's just a preference in the same way people prefer NBA over the WNBA. It's two different styles ranging from everything from pace to physicality. I'm open to it, I'm not against it, just in my years of experience as a fan, nothing has captivated me to invest my time in it.
