Considering what I remember seeing from other channels(including those from other topics) of the time, it's not that ridiculous. It's just that these people were always shilling crap and it's easy to see why if you think about it from a manufacturer perspective.
Do you run a 2 million dollar ad campaign with some magazine ads and billboards or whatever? Or do you limit it to 1 million on some magazine ads or whatever to target the boomers still reading that shit, and set aside another $50,000 to loan out some guns to a dozen youtube channels where they make 10-20 minute commercials for you? Hell, you could even skip the ads entirely and just go straight with a shot show booth and sending out samples to youtube channels. For the manufacturer, this shit is a bargain to get eyeballs on a product if the channels can actually get the views you'd be paying for.
