Won't let me reply, but I agree with Serbian Peacekeepers. There used to be shows 'Mail Call' by the late great R Lee Ermy and several others on History Channel and a few other places that were very pro-firearms/weaponry in general. Right now, all that is wiped off network TV as far as I know. Without Youtube you'd have what's little left of the NRA and GOA and then 500m anti-gun MSM types. Nothing else.

ETA: And I know this is kind of an iffy area, cause Youtube sure doesn't want to help gun rights and any screw-ups (I just fucking shot myself) will be highlighted all out. I miss the Outdoor channel stuff with that MidwayUSA guy and Massad..

I mean, I guess "getting the word out" is fine and all, but it kind of also blows up in your face when you have events like Kentucky Ballistics having a 50 cal blow up in his face or Brandon Herrera accidently putting up a tutorial on how to make gunpowder.

I'm just saying, nobody should be getting that upset OR defensive that guntubers are going to Crenshaws birthday party and if they are they really need to reevaluate some things.

I'd also make the argument that anyone who watches guntubers were more than likely already into guns or at least on their way to being into guns, so the idea they're the dam holding back mainstream medias anti gun rhetoric seems kind of optimistic.

It's the case of boomercon thinking that an (R) next to a name automatically means they care about upholding 2A.

I honestly think Donut is a clout chaser first and foremost. I'd give Hererra the benefit of the doubt about being there to win hearts and minds over Donut.

While someone else can likely explain it better than me, I'll take a shot at it.

Lets look at Brandon here since he is who I was talking about. Brandon makes content that appeals to the 15-25 males; most of his content is humorous and filled with stuff that interests young men, but he often times gets into discussion regarding gun laws and regulations. This is a very important thing to teach young men who have an interest in firearms. Getting it into their heads that gun rights are constantly under attack and all regulations are based on some form of purposeful ignorance or malice is good counter-signaling to the constant MSM points about how dangerous firearms are.

We also have someone like Demolition Ranch; Matt makes content that appeals to much younger males, I'd say around 10-14 if not younger, and his content is mostly devoid of politics or discussion of gun laws, excluding small comments, and his content at large is a lot more goofy and wacky, but he still shows aspiring gun owners or even kids with a passing interest that guns can be fun when you are safe.

Essentially, Youtube gun content is propaganda. I know I am starting to sound like a Twitter user here, but stick with me. All MSM and the vast majority of online content regarding guns either glosses over private firearm ownership or demonizes it; the media circus regarding mass shootings beats it into people's heads that guns are scary and black rifles should be banned. Guntube gives a very important opposing view and force to that narrative, pushing that guns are cool and fun as long as you are safe, while also speaking out against laws and regulations that are anti-gun. This content does not usually appeal to longtime gun owners; those types will watch people like Ian or Paul, but it appeals to young aspiring gun owners, the next generation who will have to deal with retarded pushes for gun control.

I hate that we need the NRA to an extent for regular people and to be a lightning rod for anti gun sentiment, but I'm still salty they didnt do jack shit for the 7N6 import ban.

I think people forget that the Parliamentarian army was led by Thomas Fairfax not Oliver Cromwell, who was an ignorant religious goon with a gift for telling stories. Fairfax started his career fighting in Holland and then commanding a troop of dragoons in Charles I army during the Bishops war.

During the civil war Parliamentary cavalry were essentially all dragoon, they'd sometimes have up to 6 wheellock pistols each, they'd ride up to infantry firing them, sometimes making multiple passes, drop the pistols after being fired, then finally form up for a cavalry charge.

Cromwell commanded the cavalry, but by and large the tactical innovations weren't his. Once Cromwell was actually commanding by himself like he did in Ireland, he was mostly known for slaughtering the inhabitants of towns that were trying to surrender, before eventually getting Kerb stomped at the siege of Clonmel because he didn't stop to wonder why the Spanish trained Irish commander had left a hole in the wall. Then Zap Brannigan style kept sending wave after wave of troops into the town, again not wondering why none were coming out. After 3000 of his 10000 strong army were dead, he then declared victory and went back to England (The siege of Clonmel is barely mentioned in most Cromwell biographies).

Am I late to the party? One of the gun groups I'm in on is having a war with itself on Facebook because Brandon Herrera and Donut Operator went to Dan Crenshaws birthday party, and I guess Herrera is claiming he's talking gun policy with him to "change his mind" or something?

As well as being edgy as fuck, Herrera is a very smart guy. That video on the Rhodesian FAL, building the Luty SMG, or the fucking gun that was used to minecraft Shinzo Abe. The reason he hasn't been banned is because he plans carefully and I also suspect utilizes PR companies and legal firms behind the scenes.

His video on the AR180 for St Patricks day was outrageous, but when he says it's the reason Ireland still isn't free, even fucking dyed in the Wool Orangemen would laugh.

He strikes me as a guy who would get a boner and start praising everyone if another Ruby Ridge or Waco happened.

His bios say he quit because he didn't think the risk was worth the stress and pay. I remember he was really evasive about it a few years ago when I paid more attention to him though, but I feel like if it was a major fuck up or something there'd be concrete info on it too so he I'm pretty sure he just quit because his videos and twitch were taking off.

It's the truth, while a lot of older gun owners might scoff at the idea, I don't think its a unreasonable take that the reason why Assault rifles are so popular is because of video games, and the popularity of these guns has made them practically unbannable by the government.

I know, I know sounds retarded but I go to an incredibly liberal uni and I am very open about liking guns. I have yet to meet a single zoomer that has sperged out on me because of that stance of mine, in-fact not even anyone I've talked with about has even told me they dislike guns. Keep in mind this isn't even just the guys, but liberal university women which is arguably the most liberal you're going to get outside of wine cat moms who never got married.

Games like Call of Duty and Battlefield gave a lot of late Millennial and Gen Z a knowledge of firearms not awarded to past generations who weren't interested in guns, games give you a connection to a firearm that a movie or tv show can't, hell personally I am a massive fan of the F2000 because of MW2 and that is a very common story for a lot of newer gun owners. It sounds like a joke, but your average Zoomer has a better understanding of how a gun works than anyone in the Californian Government, this is probably one of the reasons they are pushing all those new advertising laws regarding guns.

The story Cody/Donut has given on multiple occasions is that he was a bit "squeamish" when it came to the truly fucked up shit cops see and deal with on a regular basis.

Part of this is due to him being a single father (the story of his first marriage/wife and how he managed to get fucking custody of the kid in a world where the court system RARELY gives the dad sole custody is a story he refuses to talk about to this day) and the fact that he was filled with a lot of fear towards leaving his son with no parent, since (while he was in the military) he had his parents essentially raising the grandkid until he got discharged and took over as primary parent.

Shit came to a head when he had a freak out at a particularly nasty car crash after the Buzzfeed article that introduced him to the internet happened, where a bunch of people were horrifically mangled/killed in said crash. By his own word, a supervisor was on the scene and saw Donut barely holding himself together at the sight of the dead bodies while everyone else was stonefaced and unemotional and afterwards, pulled him aside and told him "cops have to remove emotion from the equation when they deal with horrors like this and you clearly can't do that. I would strongly suggest you find a new line of work, because you clearly can't compartmentalize the way cops need to compartmentalize to do the job".

And said boomers hoarding those model 29s is exactly why that shit is so fucking expensive and hard to find these days, but much like Lugers, or Ford Model T's, expect a big flood on the market and falling prices in the next 10-30 years as the boomers all die and their families dump whole collections on the market, many pieces going for sale for the first time in 50 years.
