On the bright side, that's probably the one short-barreled AR that doesn't flashbang you with every shot. Can't generate concussion if you don't have any gas pressure.

Also, its impossible for a squib load to cause a barrel obstruction and catastrophic failure. And any extremely hot round will probably just vent out the front of the barrel, I would figure. The downsides are that you have the accuracy of a musket due to the lack of contact with the rifling.

I still wouldn't want to be anywhere near the line of fire of that thing, but I doubt you'd be able to hit anything 30 yards out except by sheer luck.

Faxon had and 11.5 with a mid-length gas port that was supposedly designed for suppressor use. Based on reviews though it looks like in order to deal with the lack of dwell time, they opened up the gas port so much that it was overgassed even with adjustable blocks set on their lowest setting - and people were theorizing this was to ensure function WITHOUT a suppressor. Giving it a bit more dwell time by using an intermediate between mid length and carbine seems like it could be a good idea.
As someone who would like to put together a short (10 - 12 inch) SBR, for use as a suppressor host for a HD gun, if the gas port on this barrel is tuned right I think it could be quite a good setup. That being said, I don't care for the stainless barrel because I'd never shoot the thing at any kind of extended range and I'd prefer the durability of a nitrided 4150 or regular old chrome lined barrel. Still think there could be merit to the gas port location though.

ETA: for the record, .277 Fury has a muzzle energy only about 10% higher than bog-standard 7.62mm NATO. I imagine recoil might be slightly harsher due to the higher velocity but I question whether anyone would pass the Pepsi test between .227 Fury and 7.62mm NATO on recoil impulse alone.

For context (this is elaborated upon in two videos linked in the twitter thread but I will summarize it here for brevity and to save my fellow farmers from watching his gay videos) Beau the Human Trafficker here believes that the Sig Spear and the .277 Fury cartridge are going to lead to the 2nd Amendment being repealed or some shit. How has he come to this conclusion? Basically Beau is a retard who does not understand Terminal Ballistics or the .277 Fury cartridge. Beau believes without seeing a single gel test (To be fair I do not think anyone has actually gel tested with .277 Fury) that anyone hit with it will instantly expire and thus mass shooting committed with weapons chambered in the round will be so horrific that the Government begins gun confiscation. There is Also a bunch of shit in there about how the bigot chuds like guns the Military uses and have created a "toxic" gun culture.
Beau probably does not understand that there will be 3-4 different .277 Fury loadings power wise (Civ brass, Civ Hybrid, Mil pressure and potentially specific Mil pressure training ammo assuming that is not just civ pressure ammo.
