It's a product of a general downward pressure. My theory is that most datacenters don't give a shit about AI or LLMs but they see a rare opportunity to (through concerted effort) completely destroy the idea of compute at home and replace it with dumb screens and subscriptions.
Honestly there isn't really anything good to play gameplay wise since ~2017 anyway, with maybe one or two exceptions (DMC V and Doom Eternal pop into mind). Anytime someone talks about modern vidya it's some fucking slop hero shooter or something with seasons in it. Literal waste of time. If I didn't know any better I would say that nvidia exited the market too late anyway

Ram prices alone, it seems tariffs and high oil prices are what also screwed over those companies, and it's not going to get better anytime soon. If anything, it will probably get worse and more expensive.
they aren't closing the ranks at all, they are moving in to take that section of the market, while obviously all of the fags involved in the price hiking will do something to embargo/tax them in a pitiful attempt to protect their racket, they won't go far because le market corrects itself o algo.
