Because journoslime won't shut up about how it was gaming's 9/11 and bring it up in every article about "far-right radicalization" or how we need to stop misinformation on wrongthink websites like the chans and Kiwifarms since it got Donald Trump elected. The only people who have cared about Goobergrope for most of the past decade are leftists.
 
The last 10 years were a fucking blur to me and I'm in the same if not a worse position 10 years on as I've watched the nepotistic fuckers we were laughing at 10 years ago keep failing upwards due to industry connections. Now a bunch of them resurfaced years after the fact as parts of "consultant groups" being funded by megacorps to tell them that there aren't enough gay or black women in their games. Every media outlet keeps acting like gamergate was some freaky sexist holocaust instead of just a goof sex scandal that spiraled into internet drama. We are STILL in the shit 10 years on, nothing has fucking changed. It's a game of musical god damn chairs and nobody learns anything. Still funny though.

There's also the guys that made the tunnels in NYC to get into their place of worship during lockdowns and then started using it for other weird shit after some drama broke out between them after the lockdowns ended.

Gamergate didnt achieve any of its stated goals, it infact achieved less than nothing since the likes of SBI exist with the power they wield now with the grifting fuckfest that was every major talking head that was born from that. However what it served as is a prelude. The vicious censorship we see now got its first real field test during that, but there is more. Something gamergate did successfully achieve was unintentional. Zoe Quinn was a nobody, what she did in the grand scheme of things was nothing, but the extreme and coordinated response from gaming media and the subsequent censorship showed the participants the conniving nature of modern journalism, even if it was locked in the irrelevant sandbox that is gaming, Tell me who is the primary demographic for gamers. Teens and young adults, that specific same demographic is at the ripe age of being able to understand and see the world around them instead of taking things at the idealistic face value that children do, (obviously some stay as naïve children or what one may call an NPC). The paradigm shift that was 2016 resulted in exponential growth of the censorship and visible coordination of the media until it culminated into the pandemic years, which we can all vividly remember.

In doing so I think they overused that tactic and the niggercattle have started to develop an resistance to the censorship but id chock that up to one point in a myriad of factors to the ongoing political shifting we are in now. The end result of gamergate was innoculating some youngings, being a keystone event that was soon result into the alt right (far right, dissident right, pol escaping containment, grifting right, ect) which that fizzled hard from collapsing under both its own weight and the pressure of massive censorship. How many fragments of that managed to survive and bleed through to mainstream rightist thought is an autistic argument for another thread. In short it didnt do much and was stomped by higher powers
 
I'd say maybe 50%, probably 60% of pro-GG people were grifters and retards, compared to the 100% of anti-GG people. Every single one of them are shitheaps, even 10 years on.

It was more like feminists colluding with videogame reviewers to try and pass their slop as masterpieces. This was an event that was long time coming, as during the early 2010s a lot of walking simulators with almost no point in being games got paraded as the best thing since Tetris.

I would argue that ultimately, it was a failed attempt at covering up one's past misdeeds and then in the funniest possible way, ended up becoming the Dreyfus affair of the Internet. Main target of the ire was and still is at the white knight male journalists who willingly did it for free.
