http://www.lordkat.com/igf-and-indiecade-racketeering.html Link is dead, the corrected transcript is now here: http://www.lordkat.com/igf-and-indiecade.html

Edits:

- Originally this article was titled "IGF and IndieCade Racketeering." This title was inaccurate as we were not attempting to accuse either IGF nor IndieCade of racketeering, but to describe what we thought could be happening. The title has since been renamed to reflect this.

- The IGF Grand Prize Panel has more than 10 judges. This was an oversight on our part and I apologize for mentioning it.

edit:
Okay. Watching the video Green Puddin' just posted made rethink things. I am still against the harassment, but the IGF scandal is news to me. That's terrible ethics and people should protest that instead of whatever Quinn's doing. She IS a catalyst, but that ship has sailed. I'm still wondering about the guy who claimed Zoe Quinn attacked him at a wedding. Does anyone have a link to that?
The guy was Wolf Wozniak and the wedding was Phil Fish's. Judging by the wedding pictures Phil was very happy to have Wolf there at the time.

Wolf later tweeted that he shouldn't have brought it up, but never actually took his words back.

We don't need anymore boss music in this thread. I want to read/talk about IGF and how much of a shitlord Phil Fish is, not listen to Final Fantasy.

It's always depressing to see people you respect end up as disappointments

Yeah, it burned a little because I grew up on his games but I doubt he's following things that closely. The problem with establishing corruption in this whole thing is you have to follow who knows who, who funded who, who is funded by what, when they were funded, and so on. Most people don't want to spend hours of reading for the truth and they especially don't want to consider they're being funded by the bad guys. They want something simple and definitive. This is how SJWS have ANY influence. They state such-and-such is wrong or so-and-so is a bigot. It's easier to glance at and say "Yeah, that makes sense" while not being told the whole story.

Its also a little odd, considering that Brutal Legend had some monsters in it that were... well, disturbing as all hell.

IIRC theres this one that looked like a pregnant slenderman and summoned spiders. ewww

RPS has posted their take on the matter, after weeks of making snide comments in unrelated articles, turning off comments for those articles, and hiring more moderators to lock/delete any threads on their forums that mentions ANYTHING related to this fiasco: http://www.rockpapershotgun.com/2014/09/08/videogames-are-for-everybody/

The result? 5,700 words that don't say anything at all. Just like Kotaku, this article is an attempt to white-wash what happened and deny their own part of it. It is used to try and justify their position to silence discussion and to talk shit about their readers who may not want SJW issues shoe-horned in their articles.

My favorite section of their "stop picking on us and telling our sponsors how awful we are" article is this one:

Games journalists should disclose conflicts of interest and be as transparent as possible.

Okay. We will do our best to be transparent at all times. We will continue to declare conflicts of interest and try to make sure that writers are not in close relationships with the people they write about. We want to stress, however, that writers and editors do have close working relationships with each other and with developers and PRs. They need to talk about the games. They need to get information for you. That’s their job. Perhaps they get too close sometimes. That’s not going to destroy anything.

The idiocy here is astounding, and fits perfectly with something I posted many pages back in this thread.

Zoe Quinn really is that desperate for attention.

https://twitter.com/TheQuinnspiracy/status/508756562928623617

She is seriously posting vines of herself 'booping' the avatar of any member of Twitter that calls her out.

Why not, y'know, prove them wrong by creating a decent game?

Oh yeah, effort. Et cetera. Et cetera.
Boop a hater on a nose? That would make one want to question the age of Zoe Quinn but as CWCissey said, she really has to be desperate for some sort of attention.

The idiocy here is astounding, and fits perfectly with something I posted many pages back in this thread.

I don't consider myself a "journalist", because I write about games.
:story:
Honestly, if you write an article related to video games be it a review or some interview with the developer, that can be considered gaming journalism which of course as many have said is just very terrible.

Irony of course is that most of their consumer base no longer considers them journalists either.

Nor, apparently, does Reuters.

I really don't understand Zoe's actions. Her love of social media has been used against her repeatedly, people screenshotting old tweets, showing old facebook conversations, etc. She goes on to twitter and complains about how bad this whole thing has made things for her and her friends. How she's always getting threats and can't go home.

Why the fuck don't she just step away from twitter for awhile? Take a break. Go dark while she touches base with people in her life. Keep things offline. I'm sure people on her side would say "She shouldn't have to" but if I was in that position then why the fuck wouldn't I want to? Maybe this is because I generally dislike how people use social websites like Facebook and don't even have a twitter account. Maybe it's because I don't like to have more than 30 facebook friends because it's hard as hell to actually follow what that many people are liking and sharing. I just don't understand how someone who is making her own games, has enough influence to go to places like PAX, and seems to have friends just can't pull themselves away from twitter. Work on your game, play video games, go out drinking with friends and DON'T tweet about it. Everything points to her needing that attention.

She's an attention whore. Addicted to drama and controversy. No life. Loves to play the victim.

I'd like to see some of these game commentators tell the "journalists", the SJWs, and the fgt drama whores on twitter to get the fuck out, instead of prancing around the issue and telling everyone to be polite and inclusive.

What's most ironic about this is that if Zoe had apologized, taken her game off of Steam, and if the game journals had washed their hands of the people responsible (or had at the very least put them on suspension) people probably wouldn't have kept digging. They should have just cut their losses and regrouped after everyone had forgotten about it. For career liars they sure are bad at this.
