I haven't been on /v/ lately, but people on Facepunch were discussing it and I asked about it there too. They just said that there's probably no connection, but it's fun to imagine that it's connected to some illuminati plot.

Godjesus Bearchrist I wish they'd stay on topic. They have a big enough scandal to lock onto and leverage constructively in the Legobutts scandal for months by its lonesome. There's no logical reason for them to start trying to force their Polybius referencing here and trying to connect shit to DARPA beyond a couple of yahoos attempting to stir up additional madness, which I fucking hope is the case.

In fact, it occurs to me that this sort of sets up a contradiction.

Because if you criticize their games, you are harassing them and they have the right to make games without being harassed, and if they criticize your games calling bullshit on the double standards is harassing them and interfering with their rights to criticize games.

In short, this looks like a big old case of CMA to me. Cover my ass.

No, it's totally different. You see, that whole spiel about "...gender, sexual orientation, ethnicity, or religion..." only applies to what they want it to. If you're cis, white, Christian, or what have you, you're simply wrong and evil and oppressive. Therefore you aren't protected by this right.
 
Jim Sterling has been beating around the bush about this for too long. He willing to attack the corporate industry and made one video about how the indie scene is no different with Devs willing censor criticism like the case with Earth 2066 but when this shit storm happens he chickenshits out and it doesn't help his case that he has some from of relation to Zoe Quinn at least in the past. I lost a lot of respect for him after this had happened and his refusal to speak about it while the iron was still is hot.

I can kind of see where he's coming from though. He's not really an SJW and we shouldn't compare him to the Sarkeesians and the Quinns, though he does share some of their viewpoints. The difference is that unlike them he's not willing to sabotage the industry and attack its customers.

Wait, so the Façade guy actually has a job at a university? That was one indie game I can truly love to hate--it's a glorified chatterbots, two of the most reprehensible video game characters in history that aren't the final boss, and amazingly awful graphics even by standards a decade ago.
