I liked watching videos from Mark Bussler of Classic Game Room until he stopped posting new reviews on Youtube and moved CGR to Amazon Prime, which I don't have access to.

I also enjoy StanBurdman though his reviews are mostly sarcastic reviews of old games and he's been too busy with his day job to have made any new videos lately.

For gaming news, I mostly just get it from Twitter or forums like this one, however I sometimes visit Niche Gamer.

Goddamn, it's a shame to see what happened to Classic Game Room.

The last-ever CGR review on Youtube. He went out with a whimper, rather than an anticipated bang. Now all we get are t-shirt videos.

nobody watches Vimeo. Which just goes to prove how clueless Mark is when it comes to managing his channel. He killed it by quitting and moving his content (multiple times), making ridiculous paywalls, using his game channel to sell garbage merchandise, and just bring an outright dick to his fans. He deserves what happened to his YT channel, and failure at Amazon.

Why are you deleting videos and why won't you at least make a video To TALK with your fans about the situation?? You just left with no goodbye, nothing..

Mark doesn't tell things to youtube. He only will talk to people on Patreon and twitter (if he remembers seeing the name from the Patreon comment section). But it's not all bad news, at the rate he's bleeding Patreon subscribers, he won't have anybody left to talk to in about a year.

Ha, I just check today and also saw "Vindicators" for NES was gone. Let's see how far back he goes to delete videos with criticism.

Apparently, he did some 1 minute videos on another channel, but it looked like low effort garbage. And some of the comments make me wonder if he deserves a thread...nah, he's just a dumbass who made bad decisions with his show.

Is it fair to say CGR is dead now? Is this how it officially ends...? A lame little whimper while Mark sells his gaming stuff on eBay while doing stupid captions on old pictures that nobody wants or even finds funny? Damn... You really blew it Mark. According to one of those comments, his dad's a multi millionaire, so the apparent failure of his patreon, Amazon Prime show (CGR 2085), and his CGR Infinity channel aren't leaving him in any financial trouble.

When he was still new, I could take Yahtzee's word on just about anything, he seemed to have the exact same tastes as I did back in the late aughts.

But nowadays, he seems to be way more into the pretentious bullshit indie titles that I just couldn't care less about. I didn't like Papers Please at all but he hailed it as a masterpiece, and Return of the Obra Dinn looks so boring and full of itself that I would just grow to loathe it if I had to play it for more than an hour, but he treated it like the second coming. Though I guess that goes hand-in-hand with him moving to California and becoming obnoxiously woke while still being too awkward to talk to his own fans, somehow, despite being a public figure for about 12 years now.

I had to have a thunk about if it was just me that changed and if I just tolerate artistic autism even less today, but no, he didn't have that tolerance back then either:

But today, I just rely on Steam reviews and random posts I see here. I have so many games backlogged anyway that it's not like I need new ones anyway, and to be perfectly honest, romhacks and randomizers have given me some of my favorite gaming experiences over the last couple of years. There's also just tons and tons of extra stuff and DLC I've never played when I buy season passes for pennies on the dollar, so I've got those too.

I generally like TheGamingBrit’s content. He points out the deeper aspects of action games you either wouldn’t notice right away, or would never experienced because of how obscure it is.

I’ll listen to Yahtzee occasionally for a chuckle.

That’s about it I guess. I used to be a big supporter of Jim Sterling but his post-GG spergery is insufferable.

With regards to the post earlier on this page, it’s sad to see what’s become of CGR. I fell off that train when he started spending more time talking about his stupid comic than games.

Myself. I'm the best person to know whether or not I'd enjoy a game. You don't need some dipshit on YouTube autistically mugging at the camera to let you know if a game is good or not.

I'll watch footage of a game (no commentary) to get an idea whether or not I like it. If a friend has a copy, I'll borrow it for a day or two

If it counts then, I usually use the World of Longplays channel and skim through. They're pretty heavily biased in what they enjoy, but I still occasionally watch LGR and Gameplay & Talk if I'm in the mood for a game review or stream. They're solid guys.

It's been about five or so years since I've last read or payed attention to any "pro" review. The whole sector of game journalism is dead to me. I haven't payed attention to any reviews since then. If there is a game I want to play I just go to Youtube and see partial playthroughs and that is plenty of info for me to make a purchase decition. Steam user reviews are helpful as well, but in the end if I see a game that thematically fits my taste then I get it, many times going in sight unseen and more often than not I'm happy with the end result.

Ranton is fantastic. His approach to reviews leads to far more interesting and nuanced content than we've come to expect from the likes of IGN et al. He ends up with scores that don't fit the metacritic trends and the liberal dashes of his intense autism really kick up my enjoyment a few notches. What a fucking spazz, and I mean that in the best possible way.

Only reviewers in youtube I watch are Upper Echelon Gaming and Worth a buy but they don't really review weeb games, I can't say much about them. I think I relatively trust Nichegamer as they seem to do a reasonable job of listing what's good and bad.
