Game Informer to Shut Down After 33 Years - GameStop reportedly told them in a meeting on Friday it was closing immediately and they were all laid off.

Just want to say that currently there are Game Informer vidya magazines that date back from 1997 to 2003 that are currently selling on eBay for cheap prices. If you want them, you can go get them now before they’re gone forever.

Apparently one of the former staff got on the Game Informer twitter account to give a "genuine" goodbye, which by all accounts was just a photo of the credited staff for the magazine and a "We're sad but we took pride in what we did."

And Gamestop responded by completely nuking the account

So that's it as far as gaming print media, right?

There is still 1 print magazine that I know of. Walmart has a free gaming magazine called Gamecenter. The magazine is made by the people who used to publish EGM. They usually have copies of it in the electronics section around the video games. You can also read it online at https://egmnow.com/magazine/

Damn just nuked the site entirely

I don't think the website is completely gone. It looks like they coded everything going to gameinformer.com to redirect to the farewell message but they probably haven't deleted old stuff from the web servers yet. I noticed their content hosted on AWS is still up. For example:
https://s3.amazonaws.com/prod-media.gameinformer.com/styles/body_default/s3/legacy-images/imagefeed/January Cover Revealed: Top 50 Games of 2012/cov_237_l.jpg
I don't know if they only used AWS to host media files or if it has articles. Maybe someone who understands web scraping better than I do could find interesting stuff there.

Yeah, I remember going through those. It's halfway decent for an free magazine, but they tend to go fast for something that's centered on advertising the biggest titles

Does anyone remember the time when some random faggot claimed to have gotten the next month's issue of Game Informer early and made up a bunch of BS about RE6 before the game was even announced? He claimed that Chris and Jill actually got married in the game and posted some very blurry "magazine scans" of random text from the "article" as "proof", despite the fact that no one else had gotten the issue early like he did for some reason.

Didn't really give a shit about Game Informer outside of being the only game magazine you could check out from my middle school's library, which was kinda neat at the time.

I'd always prefer GamePro, EGM, and Tips and Tricks. Even though you could even tell way back in 98/99 that EGM were mostly woke fags, it was still a largely fun read.

Didn't the guy that couldn't figure out how to level up on Mass Effect and couldn't get beyond the tutorial of Cuphead work at EGM at one point, too? Explains a lot, if true.

Lisa Mason is the only good thing I remember from Game Informer but looking back on it she was like a 4/10 and you hardly ever saw her. I remember when Game Informer went overtly woke and had an interview with that racist Indian guy from Mass Effect Andromeda then lectured readers in the letters section for daring to talk back to a powerful brown man.
