I tell you you are all underestemating Spain, mainly bc they don't have this one standout forward/striker and they don't win their matches with 5+ goals with all the possession and chances created.
For sure, France will be tough and they have all the tools to beat Spain. But they are a tough nut to crack. France, Spain or Argentina, one of them is going to win the world cup, not England tho. Sorry England bros.
If England remains at the level they played against Mexico they could win the whole tournament (or get pasted by France in the final) but realistically I expect England-Norway to resemble our matches against Ghana or Panama where we just didn't click at all and basically played like we did under Southgate but got lucky in a way that we wouldn't if we were playing better opposition.
Hope I'm wrong because if we beat Norway we've got a pretty good fucking chance against a stagnant Argentina who have been tested against some of the worst teams in the tournament. Hell if we end up with a repeat of the last WC final (Argentina vs France) I'd expect France to comfortably beat Argentina by at least four goals.

I'm a filthy casual, but I've been unimpressed by Lamine Yamal. It seems like defenders just force him right and he's basically neutralized. I hate everything about France so hopefully he figures it out soon.
On the other side of the bracket, I think Argentina has been more lucky than good. England are starting to hit on all cylinders, if they can avoid losing anybody I could easily see them getting to the final.
The biggest problem I saw with them yesterday was trying to force too much of the action up front through Olmo and Yamal. Belgium had both of them double-marked the entire time and Spain just ignored the left side in the attacking third for the most part. That should have been a halftime tactics change, but apparently no one on the coaching staff saw it. That said, Cucurella put the team on his back in the second and played out of his goddam mind. Losing De Bruyne and especially Courtois doomed Belgium, especially once Spain got Merino's fresh (fast) legs out there.

That's what's made being an England fan so frustrating over the last few tournaments, at least to me. They obviously have a ton of talent and when they actually bother to turn up and play they can do well, but so often they just don't. This WC is a great example, started with a great win against Croatia, followed by a couple of absolute fucking shitter matches.
I've no doubt we'll concede some goals tonight, but if the level of play against Mexico can be replicated then even if we lose we'll go out on a high note.
