The next few days are going to be absolute bangers. We have England entering the Thunderdome of the Estadio Azteca to play Mexico in a round of 16 home game for Mexico. You bongs have no idea. The American national team has to deal with that bullshit every season. There is no comparison, and the only thing close to trying to explain it would be saying "its kinda like Chelsea playing an away game at Arsenal". Absolutely bonkers how the RNG gods brought this match up about. Then there is the USA vs. Belgium with the USA team down a man due to a red card, but also playing a home game in Seattle which is rather famous for how autistic they are about home games. Then there is Norway vs. Brazil just to round things off with a good underdog story.

This is a most excellent tournament. One would almost think FIFA wrote a script for it.
I was not a fan of the extended roster this year, it made the group stages fairly uninteresting and just overall made it hard to watch every match if you wanted to. That said, it allowed some of the smaller teams to have a chance to compete and in this 32 round it's led to some amazing football. I will gladly take a less exciting group stage if it gives us these kind of games in the future.

This World Cup is the greatest part of America’s 250th birthday if you ask me, and we didn’t even have to do a bunch of telling people about how great the country is. Just let people experience how even our gas stations and chain restaurants can be amazing.
It's been very heartening to see foreign fans discover stuff like Waffle House for the first time, overall I think it's been a good tournament so far.

Not sure how I fancy England's chances against Mexico. Homefield advantage and that elevation is going to be really rough. Looking forward to seeing Canada get knocked out today, the day of the rake grows ever closer!

England is going to get absolutely fucked since the stadium is 7,300ft elevation meaning the bongs will have to deal with 25% less oxygen than England

High altitude is no fucking joke.
South Americans teams WISHED they could play at Azteca, we have to deal with Bolivia, bringing in the most bullshit avantage possible.

Playing at bolivia, you consider a tie a win

Watching that last goal scored by Cape Verde, is it normal for opposing players to duck out of the way of the ball when they could clearly block it with their head/torso?

Mostly, yeah. I'm pretty sure it's more instinctual than anything. Some defenders have steel nuts and take it head on, no pun intended. Balls being whipped at your face though, as you could imagine, can easily concuss you. So it's a safety first approach. Many players have been knocked silly letting a whipped football fly right at their noggin without moving out of the way. It's antithetical to your job of keeping the ball out of the net but what can you do, ya know? Torso is similar, where allot of times players get the wind knocked out of the them or a shot to the groin.

I must be built different. Tying goal zooming towards me in the biggest tournament of the sport? I'm putting my whole body in its way. Grit my teeth, close my eyes and prepare for the bruising the ball is gonna cause. Fuck it, I wanna win.

From what I've read, Canada's best player is Alphonse Davies or Promise David, and he was basically sitting out the entire game. He injured himself last December and his minutes on the field have been controlled by Bayern Munich. Cue everyone thinking he was going to be on the field, like he was last week, and ultimately not doing anything.
