I was watching a thing about FIFA and basically the only way they make money is the World Cup. They're trying but not succeeding with the Club World Cup; the women's Cup and the youth cups all lose money. So they have to make their purse with one event every four years.
Not saying I feel bad for the greedy fucks, but it's all about money for them; damn the fans.
And the federations support it because FIFA feeds cash back to them. How would you feel if you're fucking the Bahamas, don't even have a football pitch in your whole country, and suddenly FIFA drops $16mil on ya? You'd keep in the current corrupt fucks too.

Im not sure about that either. Is it maybe a translation mistake? So it's not mistaken identity but more like "the person who was penalized is not the one who deserved to be penalized" which I'm sure in the refs language is like two syllables.
You need to play fairly with everyone in the tournament and having all these teams playing in heat they aren't use to (looking at you European nations) so the hydration break is necessary for teams to avoid having players collapse. Now what FIFA do with that break is another thing...

FIFA deciding that every nation gets a vote is the dumbest thing about their organization. An Oceana country should not have the same voting power as Spain when it comes to football matters. But the fact that the mens world cup is the only thing that makes money will end up meaning that you will have to either pay FIFA under the table or give them insane amounts of advertising dollars in order to host the tournament. That more or less rules out a European nation hosting it anytime in the future
