Photomorphs have always been in the realm of uncanny valley, and most people generally agree that they're in that category. There's something about the photomanipulation of anything that does that. People usually use these as examples of how anthropomorphic animals wouldn't be able to look anything but ugly or creepy irl, but there are examples of them drawn realistically rather nicely.
