It's set to start as Summer Game Fest ends and I'm curious which will be worse.
I'm not really excited for either thing but I don't have anything better to do tonight.

Event just concluded; it was... something. I supported the Ice King on my end; not sure what changes are on The Foundation team's side, but... here's my version of events:

The event started with the Ice King' team (myself included) in his castle, in the main hall; King's working with the Voyager - Voyager gets the Zero Point, Ice King gets to refreeze The Foundation and add him back to his (King's) collection. Once the timer for the event officially hits zero, the King gets up, comments that he's tired of waiting, and grabs the Infinity Blade out of the pedestal in the front of the main hall; Voyager warns that the Foundation is planning a trap, so King decides to spring it intentionally to lure the Foundation out. Using jetpacks, we fly alongside the Ice King and the Voyager's ship to Dark Dominion, were the Foundation's team is waiting. The Foundation and King converse for a bit, before Foundation pulls out a laser cannon that's supposed to break the Voyager ship's shield; however, it suddenly malfunctions, resulting in a gunfight between Foundation and King's groups.

After a bit of fighting, Rock gets the cannon to work, and shatters the ship's shield; this results in him and the King getting into a brawl, the King using the Infinity Blade and the Foundation using a Zero Point shard as a makeshift club. After some back-and-forth asskicking, the King stabs the Shard with the Blade, resulting in everyone's souls getting knocked out of them, with the respective teams then all possessing their leader - it turns into a 1v1 between the two, with the player(s) hitting the QTEs. After a particularly rough clash between the superpowered beings ends up blowing up Dark Dominion - and results in Peely falling into a lava pit - the King manages to successfully freeze the Foundation, winning the fight.

Not going to lie, wasn't expecting the Foundation to actually lose - the Rock's got his contract stating that he "never loses a fight", and given how hard the devs were shilling his team this past season, I was surprised. But anyways...

Of course, the Voyager naturally betrays the Ice King and apparently kills the guy; our soul somehow winds back up in our body, and the Voyager begins to terraform/destroy the island using the Shard - we get sent flying off into the distance. However, the Rift Butterfly suddenly appears and grants us the Infinity Blade to use; with one final QTE, we cut through the Voyager's ship clean in half, restoring the island... well, partially, the place is now flooded.

We get a cutscene of Jones and The Visitor in the Foundation's damaged base - the Voyager shows up, and Jones is shot through the stomach... but the Visitor, who takes his helmet off and reveals himself to be Geno. Kicking the dying Jones off of the base's edge, Geno and Voyager converse, with the latter confirming the former is his master.

So, any comments?

r/FORTnITE - Save the World v41.00 Update Notes

Play With Others Comes to Ventures!

Ventures now includes a Play With Others option, letting you queue into Missions with other players and help them complete their objectives. To try it out, head to the World Map, select the Ventures pin and you’ll find it in the currently active Venture zone.

Custom Weapons for Your Defenders

You can now equip Defenders with class-appropriate weapon Schematics, giving them custom weapons to use in Missions. If no Schematic is equipped, Defenders will use their class-specific default weapon.

✅ Save the World Bug Fixes & Improvements

Matchmaking & Login

  • Fixed a rare scenario that could prevent some players from loading into their Storm Shield Defense Mission
  • Logging out from the Save the World Settings tab no longer causes an endless “Connecting…” screen or crashes on Xbox One when logging back in

Weapons & Perks

  • The Ancient’s Launcher no longer fires instantly when aiming and now properly locks on
  • The Ancient's Launcher projectile and explosion effects now appear correctly when in front of, behind or within the Storm wall
  • Mayhem’s Crossfire perk now displays an alert when a Commander with the Shock Tower ability is required and a T.E.D.D.Y. Hero is selected as lead

Defenders & Wildlife

  • Defenders will now consistently revive downed players

  • Your Power Level updates in real time again when changing Survivor Squads
  • Opening the Emote Wheel and an interactable Homebase menu at the same time no longer causes controls to stop working

Well I just did a 140 eliminate and collect to try out the updated defenders and they're pretty good. Being able to give them a weapon again is a huge damage buff; not sure what the meta for that will be yet, I tried the Obliterator sniper since it can shoot through walls. You can also give sniper defenders bows since bows are technically sniper rifles in this game. I currently only have sniper defenders so I can't try out other stuff yet.

At high level they do pretty good against small crowds of zombies but get destroyed in large crowds. They'll probably still continue to go crazy at low levels like they did before.

Currently working on the new season; got most of the new sprite extracted, currently only missing the Zero Point and Burnt Peanut ones, right now. From what I've heard, the Burnt Peanut one might not even be in the game right now, though, so I can't help but feel like I'm wasting my time on that front...

Anyways, the current map is honestly pretty cool; not quite the greatest one, but I like how it's divided up, and it plays fairly well. Plenty of sweats out right now, but I still got my umbrella already; personally, I'd suggest just finding a quite spot and just camping as much as possible, especially with the rather OP explosive AR in the game now.

A very old cash-only skin pack has returned to the shop after almost 8 years.

Price is now $8.99 instead of $4.99. However, the amount of V-Bucks included has also increased from 600 to 800.

Expected people to be pissed, surprisingly little about it on twitter so far.

TheBurntPeanut is officially in the game; they added him into the Sprite pool today, and I just managed to extract him. In order to find him, you need to search Sprite Chests; those blue-purple chests with crystals on top. Be advised that there's basically a "kill-on-sight" policy towards people that have his Sprite; prepare accordingly.

Anyways, he gives more loot when eliminating opponents; not entirely sure what that means, I found him in a chest then immediately extracted him, so I didn't test it out.

EDIT: Also, they just dropped a trailer for the Digital Circus collab.

Thought someone here might get a kick out of it, if that's your thing.

There is an episode where it literally every character is given a gun so it actually makes sense unlike a lot of other collaborations with cartoons

STW youtuber Beast has made a video talking about the updated defenders. TLDR:
  • The best perks you can get on defenders are crit damage and crit rating. However getting optimized perks is much harder for defenders than it is for weapons so don't worry about that too much.
  • The best perks for defenders' weapons are most likely the same as if you were using the weapon yourself.
  • The best overall weapon for defenders is the Blastotron 9000 sniper with the exploding projectiles.
And he's right, the blastotron is absolutely insane even at only 77 power. I was able to complete a 116 eliminate and collect without firing a shot myself.

Última edición:
I just wanna rant real quick.

Okay, first, I was fanboying about the Masters of the Universe collab (even if the thought of He-Man using a gun does kinda remind me of a certain Dolph Lundgren film from 1987...) First day I bought it, I found a Skeletor player on the spawn island and we both just stood there doing the "heeeeyyy yeah yeah" emote. I wish I had recorded it. It was a total Fortnite moment.

But.... I really don't care for the sprites or the extraction gimmick.

Like, say what you will about the rivalry thing last season, that was an extension of what Fortnite is about anyway--killing other players.

The sprites feel like a shit version of Pokemon has been grafted onto a game about killing each other. It feels like a distraction... or worse, a griefing mechanic.

I mean, tell me how often this happens: You see a notification that a beacon has been activated and several players run to it.... or worse, players camp at the beacon waiting for someone to turn in their sprites. And of course the sprites often force you into a situation where you have to choose whether you want a lot of sprite dust, or to have a good supply of items handy (though to be fair, this season also made it so you basically only need two things: the chaos exploder rifle, and the seven slider boots).

Collecting sprites is annoying in a game where people are hunting you down, especially since even if you find one, it does not count unless you extract it. My policy right now is if I find a gold or other rare one, I just use a portable extractor right away.

But sometimes the game bugs up and won't let me switch the sprite in my hand with the one in my back. Ooops.

I've also had a lot of cases where the game would not let me pick up a sprite.

Heck, in general I've encountered a lot of bugs. Some of them are minor, like I'll find I'm suddenly moved a space to the side or something, but the stuff like things getting stuck in walls or unable to be picked up are really annoying.

I'm not a huge fan of losing a sprite if you die in a match. That makes me want to never bring a sprite into battle and only ever use ones I attain in-game. But at least you only ever have to master them once. I forget if you have to extract them for the mastering to count, but with at least one (the dream sprite) you definitely don't.

It also feels like you have to basically memorize the spawn locations of the sprite chests.

Which brings me back to my issue. Like, it feels like this season incentivizes playing in stupid ways since you need to get sprite dust and do this stupid collection thing. This is the first season where I will actually stay in the storm to open chests and level up my sprite, or sacrifice having heals and mobility on hand so I can hold more sprites... in extreme cases I've even held nothing but sprites just to get a big dust bonus, which of course is dangerous.

And the rarity values.... like... Epic, this is a mechanic that is only going to exist for, at most, six months. Some of these rare spawns would be okay in a legitimate single-player game, but in a multiplayer BR game they feel rather dumb.

One other thing, and this was a problem last season as well, is I feel like lately I'm disincentivized to play the OG or really, any other mode, because its like "I can't earn the stuff in those modes, so playing them is a waste." I used to not have this problem when Fortnite was just about killing people, but I dunno, lately it feels like playing any but the main BR mode is actively leaving money on the table (though of course I may be taking it too seriously).

Anyway, rant over.

Am I the only person who really, really hates this season's gimmick?

Am I the only person who really, really hates this season's gimmick?

Eh, I don't HATE the gimmick... but I do agree, it's gotten a bit old already. Only reason I even engaged with it at all is because I was wanting to grab the Peanut for meme reasons; thing is, when you already have everything unlocked, then what's the point of it all? I know that there's supposed to be some more actual rewards for mastering the sprites later down the line, but... aside from that, there's not much the sprites even offer, and there's no real incentives to actually taking the sprites into matches, given that you're VERY likely to lose them thanks to a sweat. Hell, I killed myself with that flame one recently.

I've ran into the same issue with other modes just not having much, I agree; having to pretty much ignore the rest of the game in favor of BR's main gimmick is not great.

I forget if I've mentioned it but I feel like this season you have to have the Sprite Chest locations memorized or you're just not gonna find anything except the starters.

Which is kinda dumb.

And now there's a "Golden Power Hour" thing where for one hour, Golds are more common.

Which just makes me want to beat someone with a clue stick. Imagine if Breath of the Wild had an actually interesting Shrine but only for one hour on real-world Saturday, and you could be screwed out of it if you get sniped by another person.

Just.... what was Epic thinking?

I will say its addictive, but that's probably more my own autism than anything.

So, anyone attend the Live Event? Pretty sure the Infinity Blade got unvaulted this time around.
The Infinity Blade was something you could get during the last leg of the Rivalries season (and perhaps even before that). I forget if it was one of the things you could pull from the rift or if it had its own thing though.

Man, more than ever I wish there was a way to just go back to playing the previous seasons (something like OG, but time-locked to specific islands with whatever gimmicks were active).

One more rant, and this is one that's been true for awhile but its a basic way Fortnite has been enshittified:

HOW IT USED TO WORK:

You play a team game, then your teammates sign out. Fortnite automatically recognizes this and realizes you probably want to play Solo.

HOW IT WORKS NOW:

You played a team game, but your teammates leave. You go in for one more match.... the game still assumes you want to play a team game, so it randomly pairs you with people you don't know and might not even be able to communicate with (and might be AIs).

And this just effing annoys me, because now suddenly I have to manage a teammate and adjust my approach when I hadn't anticipated that at all.

All because Fortnite changed something.
