Also, McLaren Racing has won its legal fight with Alex Palou, and has been awarded "damages of well over $12 million to compensate the business for the commercial loss and disruption" The company will also "be seeking interest and reimbursement of its legal expenses at a further hearing."
Palou and his ALPA Racing management company owe McLaren $1,312,500 for driver salary, $5,382,344 for the 2024-2026 seasons, and $950,000 for the 2027 season.
A bonus of $500,000 from General Motors to McLaren for running a high-calibre driver must also be paid, along with a loss of revenue claim for the amount of US$2.05 million.
This gives a total of $10,194,844 with a further sum of between $2 million and $2.5 million to be decided in respect of another sponsor claim.
This could push the total award to McLaren up to $12.6 million USD, or £9.3 million from the $20 million it was originally seeking.
 
The first test in Bahrain is also only going to have the last hour of each day broadcast rather than the full thing like last season.

Hot damn. Long wheelbase cars were fucking nasty. Here is hoping the season is competive...

Massively disappointed that for all the "tough medicine" James Vowles was blabbering about last year, Williams is fucking behind. I wanted to believe him even though I found myself skeptical given how much he fucking talked about it. Welp, here we are...he seems like another blowhard at this point.

Of course, I throw my support to a team and that's what happens. But if anyone pays attention to my race predictions, the universe will naturally make me look like a chump.

Oh well. Give me angry Leclerc or demon Piastri. I want some kind of revenge arc this year.

Car is overweight and didnt pass the crash test. Long road ahead for them

A look at the actual (shakedown spec) Haas. Note that the earlier renders posted by the team had incorrect wheel sizes. Overall it is the best looking car this year so far. Hoping for some results for them. Other autists will notice the lack of rigid bars between the bargeboards and central nose unlike the mercedes and ferrari cars. They weren't present on the render but don't appear to be present here either. I believe that the support bars are quite strictly regulated and have limited use as aero components (while disrupting airflow) so not having them is preferable if you can get the rigidity.

Speaking of which the teams are already moaning of having to build lighter cars. after all they had to shed 30kilos this year and the FIA is saying they want to have even lighter cars. someone has to explain to me how that is going to work when the cars have to withstand crash tests while also carrying all that weight
 
Not even sure what the tests today should show. Timewise RedBull was the fastest, Merc behind. and I think either Audi or Cadillac was 7 seconds slower at the end of the day. But not exactly much to learn as the track was very cool. But as a mark, Red Bull managed 195 laps without issues. So it seems they have at least managed a good base for their engine (though how much was used is another question)

They're going to have to start allowing some more exotic materials for construction. On the one had the sport is supposed to be about pushing tech forwards so great, on the other hand the cost cap is going to be a major blocker because everything about researching and using those materials is horrifically expensive. Plus then were back to the applicability to road car arguments again that all the teams want, no one is going to make road cars out of those kinds of material.
