So the guy in charge of all the changes to F1 is stepping down and essentially retiring. Here's to hoping the next dude is better at his job🌈
 
For your amusement and generally, so the universe can prove me wrong, I'm going to put out a couple of predictions. I feel like getting clowned on is just my fate, so let's do this:

Sprint:
1. Verstappen dominates, because he's going HAM for the rest of the season.
2. Norris for the podium.
3. I have my doubts but Piastri also takes a podium.

Grand Prix (podium, not necessarily in this order):
1. Verstappen. At this point, I want to see Franz Hermann show up at 24 Hours of Lemons for the yuks.
2. Norris
3. Russell

Other notables: I think Ferrari is going to take a dump this weekend. There seems to be no positive race energy around them, and no one is enthusiastic about them after Hamilton's penalty and Leclerc's dubious P2 under the VSC in Mexico City (I'm hearing more about Leclerc getting engaged this week more than about the race in relation to him, and I don't even think that's a coincidence).

I feel like the rookies will have a rough weekend if there's rain, but between that and that this is nearing the end of the season, without a big upset or surprise come-from-behind, we're going to hear the same names a lot.
 
I feel the boats in the back will perform better than usual with the rain, Max is like a dolphin in the rain, I'm not sure about Russell though. Norris can bottle it very easily. Although it pains me to say, experience will speak, and Ham may have a good race for once, and Nando Will show what he's made of.

All this of course hinges on the FIA not being massive pussies
 
Man I miss the days when a great track like Interlargos was the last and so often the championship decider. We have had some absolute classic decides there with all sorts of ups and downs (2008 and 2012 for example).

These days we get a track where one championship was decided by the fact the track is just awful for overtaking.

The run in that will decide this potentially nailbiting championship is Vegas, Qatar, and Abu Dhabi, fucking great.
 
True. In the early 90's the last race was Adelaide, then Suzuka, Jerez, then Suzuka again for years to come. Those were the days. Remember when Schumacher managed to get the 2003 title by a hair's breath because he had so much bad luck in the race?
 
Speaking of championships, I have been meaning to do this for awhile now and with the year ending soon, its best to get it dealt with.

Our competition looks like it is between the top 5 teams. 6th place is 500 points behind 5th, so unless some drastic shit happens, its just the top 5 in the running. I think some players gave up early when that swap fiasco happened.

I use the Greer moniker. I am not sure who is behind BMJ teams. If they want to step forward go for it.

I mentioned at the beginning of the year that I had played Australia before league started and thus needed to deduct those points from my total. So the real standings are:

Yuki spins in practice and hits the wall, thankfully it was not anything major, some front wing damage and tire degradation, he'll be rejoining the session shortly.

Thorough checks for damage, turns out it'll take more time than previously thought

Post practice edit;
McLarens look like rocket ships on mediums, Verstappen got no chance on softer tyres, although many cars looked competitive on hards. Goods look for Piastri, maybe he'll show some genius as well. The Ferraris look slower than Williams, king nog spun a bit when his car bottomed out. Lots of lock ups all round, it's gonna be a promising race

Excellent SQ1, Norris looks blazing fast, surprisingly fast midfielders, Max still drives like his family's held hostage. Sainz, Ocon, Tsunoda, Lawson and Colapinto out. P15 for Antonelli, Italian Verstappen sorta bottled it. Sainz got stuck in traffic and couldn't heat his tyres.

Edit for SQ2;
FERNANDOOOO ALONSOOOO my nigga clinches P1 despite McLaren rockets, with Russell getting to P3. Chuck spins and brings a yellow flag, fucks Ham. Bearman, Bortoleto Gasly Albon and Hamilton out

SQ3; Norris on pole, followed by Antonelli and Piastri. Bad showing from Verstappen on both SQ2 and SQ3, P6. The McLarens look vulnerable with the Taliban on their asses. Magic Nando shows lots of promise in his rookie season. Full grid for tomorrow;
