Oh yeah Crofty start the debate on who's the best driver on social media. That totally won't turn into a shitshow.

Aston are going to hand 2nd to bloois here with their lift and coast.

ETA Oh good they've left nando to deal with that spitheal.

Whether it is stable or not, that terrifying Alpine rear wing needs to be looked at, if only because of the distraction and alarm that it causes to any driver directly behind.

Pit releases also need to be reviewed. If the stewards stop penalising near misses, they are laying the foundation for a future collision.

I was expecting usual 'STEWARDS BLACK FLAG THEM REEEEEE' bullshit but then they cut to the on board and woah no that thing was not okay.
 
Can we just appreciate how Albon with the oldest tyres could keep George and the rest behind him for nearly half the race because the Williams went vrooooom on the straights without DRS? And that was a fine 7th place imho
 
So they admit Alonso had to take action to avoid Hamilton but somehow there was no risk of a crash? So then why did Alonso have to brake?

Also my god did the Ted incredulous rant about Lando's penalty get boring. Look if you don't know what it's for just say so, no need to talk for 5 minutes about nonsense. Also you could do your job and check the steward feed, it's all well explained.

My guess is they wanted to give Norris a penalty for an unsafe release, but they knew it’d be obvious that they were favoring Hamilton if they punished Norris and not Hamilton. So they let both of them go for the unsafe release, despite it being clear as day that they were unsafe, and then made up some BS to give Lando another penalty.

Hamilton practically had that podium gifted to him with that BS Hulkenberg penalty, the lack of penalty for his obvious impeding during qualifying, and the lack of penalty for the obvious unsafe release. George was unable to escape the DRS train after his crash sent him to the back of the field, so it’s likely that had the FIA not intervened, Hamilton would have been stuck in the midfield for the whole race.

I also laughed when it looked like Lewis was closing the gap to Alonso, but then Alonso got clearance to push and the gap immediately grew by over a second. Had Alonso not spent half the race managing behind/slightly ahead of Hamilton, he likely would have been in a real battle with Max, or at least forced Max to pick up the pace. So fuck the FIA again for robbing us of that.

I had never once in my life thought I would wish for Senile Darrell Waltrip and Drunk Clint Bowyer in the booth but Ted's rant somehow made me want them instead. It's like every single motorsport is in a contest to see who can have the worst announcers. If Vince McMahon found out about the Sky team's ability to not call the race and instead ramble about other things, he'd sign them to commentate Raw in a heartbeat.
 
Late reaction here, but Haas really needs to fix the fact that Hulk's car eats rear tires insanely quick. Wouldn't have gotten screwed by the red flag right after Hulk was forced to pit due to tire wear. It's not just this race where Hulk has just completely destroyed a tire in a short time. It could just be him since K Mag doesn't seem to have this issue.

Poor MTL here, but would truly be a shame to see Sargeant suck his way out of a seat mid season. I'd love to see an American driver stick around. The Williams isn't a complete shitbox this season, so it would make sense for Sargeant to catch a demotion if he commits holy jihad again. Migger replacing him if that happens would be immensely funny considering what Haas dumped him for.

I think he should at least be given the chance to see out the full year, but everyone in the paddock knew that Sarge wasn't ready and was rushed up thanks to his academy status + nationality. Everyone expected he would be trundling around in 19th place every race, but I don't think anyone thought his career would go as poorly as it has. I don't think Americans are ever going to succeed in F1, regardless of how badly Liberty wants them to, and the first American driver to reach the series in 8 years being a Mazespin-tier wrecking ball won't help.

On the plus side, I'm sure Chip Ganassi is salivating at the thought of being able to grab Sargeant and his stacks of oil money once Williams kicks him out the door for turning their car into scrap metal too often.
 
We all knew sergeant would be shit tier and it was a nationality thing. If it wasn't for wanting an American they would have kept Latiffi and would have gotten similar performance levels.

Sergeant trundling round at the back wouldn't be so bad when Williams was shithouse so Albon would be next last even if it was gaps measured in tens of seconds by the end of the race. Trundling round at the back while your team mate is making Q3 and scoring points though is a career killer.

As much as I like Checo his status has got to be getting looked at by Helmut and he will be feeling the pressure. You can't fail to get into Q3 3 times in a row and fail to get onto the podium when your teammate is gapping the rest of the field by that much. Alonso is creeping up on him for 2nd in the championship and if the merc is resurgent then they are fighting for the WCC with one hand tied behind their back albeit with significant headstart.

I think Andretti would prefer an American who can actually finish a race without going torpedo mode into the wall. Considering that Colton Herta seems to have fully blown any chance at getting a super license for the foreseeable future, I honestly think that Kyle Kirkwood may have the best chance to get the Andretti Cadillac seat if it ever becomes a real thing. He's an aggressive driver and prone to overdriving and wrecking, but he also has clear talent and has won a race in his sophomore season (which is more impressive considering how far Andretti is lagging behind Ganassi, Penske, and McLaren this year).

The American drivers in the junior ladder aren't inspiring any confidence. We've got Crawford, easily the least impressive of the 10 gazillion red bull juniors, Correa who I want to say raced under another flag for most of his career and averages 16th or so, and Benavides who is a Mazepin-level hazard out on the track. Maybe the guys in F3 are good- I don't know enough about them to say.

Spoiler alert: he won't.

The year he won the F2 championship he was a Mclaren young driver. Perez had just been given the boot so they had a seat, Magnussen was picked and he was sent off to formula washing machine.

During his time driving in a joke series both Button and Magnussen left McLaren, they took funking Vandoorne over him.

The year he won his first milk float championship he was yeeted by Mclaren and picked up by Toto. That same year Williams had a seat, one Toto gave to Russell while yeeting Nyck back to race hair driers.

Even when Toto was sucking the guys dick as the best thing ever he agreed to Albon going into the Williams (as long as he lost the RBR link) over Nyck. Everyone who has ever worked with him has spent ages talking him up all whole passing him over for actual opportunities with their cars.

He's the racing driver equivalent of the girl you try to introduce your mate to while telling him how amazing a personality she has, all the time your mate is wondering why you don't date her then but we all know why.

In other news the development time reset has just occurred so Aston has taken a huge cut for the second half of the season. Bet Merc wish they didn't jump Aston just before this.
