People on /a/ are already comparing this to Eureka Seven: Astral Ocean and even calling it "FLCL: AO." Yes, I understand that these new seasons are probably going to be bad, but I doubt that they'd be that bad. FLCL isn't really written in a way where new seasons would be able to ruin the original series retroactively like AO did.

It's a blatent money grab by Production IG. Remember, as soon as they bought the rights to FLCL last year they said they were looking into ways to monitize their new acquisition, including a possible remake. People would have more faith in it if the new season happened organically, but it didn't. None of us know for sure whether or not it will be awful, but it probably will be.
 
This just might get me to sit down on my ass and finally watch the original from start to end!
