Yeah it's basically this tbh. If you read some of the comments by the authors, they're pretty much usually about how they had something or someone bothering them in their day to day life, so they made a fluffy pony story about it. Like, "I was pissed off about my boss constantly demanding tasks from me while being ungrateful, so I wrote a story about an arrogant pony who keeps demanding shit and then had him explode with a rocket or whatever", stuff like that.
I feel like the people who keep thinking of this as being like some form of twisted guro snuff porn are being pretty silly, the fanbase for this shit just mostly seems to be either dumb edgelords or people who just wanna vent in healthy ways. A bunch of them even seem to be happy pet owners - "I'd beat the shit out of someone if they ever even thought about doing this to a real animal" isn't an uncommon thing to see the artists post.
They are *definitely* weird as fuck though.

I would also suggest that there's a small, but somewhat significant core of people who are using fluffies as surrogate animals in an attempt to express some of their darker urges and emotions.
I remember reading one comment on fluffybooru earlier about how some guy wouldn't ever dream of hurting a cat or dog since it's too easy to positively empathize with them. But then he (and others) went on and on about how they would pay anything to get their hands on a real life fluffy and how much it was driving them crazy that they didn't have anything more than cartoons to act out their sick fantasies. (I would try to go find and link to the comments, but I've already showered twice today and don't want to have to make it thrice).
I really hope they're not the majority. True, it's better that these proto-serial killers vent their lusts on drawings than actual pets. But who knows how many might decide to escalate once they have a taste for suffering?
I wonder if fluffy culture has any overlap with the monkey hater community...

At least the majority Yukkuri abuse stories have Yukkuris being dicks to others and then the asshole Yukkuri is tortured. I haven't seen any asshole fluffies being tortured yet, most are completely innocent, but I just found out about fluffies last month while I've known Yukkuris for a few years.
