I think a reason why the Basque have yet to gain independence from Spain is cause they look up to the English, but at least they took the flag design with it.

Brussels is a bit complex cause it's shared by Belgium's French and Flemish community meaning it has three flags. But the current flag is the best of the bunch. Which isn't saying much.

Even the ones responsible for overthrowing the Qing came with a good design.

These make the current PRC flag look a bit mundane tbh. But I prefer that one over the one Mao himself liked. He really had shit taste.

on topic of revolutionary flag, I like washington's pine tree more than the gadsden flag or "come and take it". it captures something about the fears and faith of the people at that moment. also it hasn't been coopted as modern consumer trend.

Slavs in general have a horrible tendency to just scribble their Cyrillic all over a solid color and call it a day. Especially communists.

The Soviet flag doesn't have writing, you exceptional individual. Pic attached is a flag of one of the divisions that stormed the Reichstag, the writing identifies the division. WW2 is not Pride for every division in it to have its own color scheme and mascot.

Communists tend to scribble fucking shit all over their flags because when they need a new flag, they need it yesterday. It's easier to just write on the banner what it stands for and let the 30% of the fighters who can read tell the others. By the time it takes to assemble the flag design committee, come up with a decision, and disseminate it, they will have already failed (and they usually do, so the flag of the Bunghole People's Socialist Revolt will stay revolting). The anarchist gangs of Makhnovia, which existed for three years, didn't have a single established flag, they had a "black background, white font, pick a slogan" brand identity.

But when commies have the time, they clean that shit up:

I wouldnt say the Soviet constituents are clean, but most of them do look nicer.

Similar to it is Colroado. Very well-loved and plastered over lots of knickknacks and stickered to the backs of many cars.
