Following the global success of Five Nights at Freddy’s last fall, Universal and Blumhouse are headed back to the pizzeria.

A sequel, Five Nights at Freddy’s 2, is in the works for release in fall 2025, Universal President of Domestic Theatrical Distribution Jim Orr said during the studio’s CinemaCon presentation Wednesday afternoon in Las Vegas.

The first film based on the wildly popular video game launched domestically day-and-date in cinemas and on Peacock on October 27. It went theatrical-only overseas and grossed over $291 million worldwide. The movie was also the most watched title ever in a weekend on Peacock, an anomaly given Freddy’s fans’ yearning to see the pic on the big screen. That doesn’t happen often with theatrical day-and-date streaming movies.

No word if part two here is also day-and-date on Peacock.

will they reinvest the massive profits into making this one more gory and interesting or will they churn out another mediocre film
i'm betting it's the latter
I was really disappointed with the first movie. It had signs of being a competent movie and I was hoping it would be like the first two or three games and play it fairly straight. The movie stopped dead in its tracks revealing the animatronics housed the children's souls. It should have just focused on the first game and maybe give hints about the true nature of the animatronics, but it just went too fast into bringing in later content.

i've never not wanted something in my life as much as this

the first movie came out far too late in terms of peak fandom, so who in the fuck is going to care about fnaf in 2025?

i remember for the first thirty minutes it was building the robots up as something sinister, having few scenes where they do anything crazy, but then it threw everything out of the window and just said "these robots are haunted by dead kids"
what was the point of introducing the fucking robbers when they didnt show the robots murdering them
and vanessa only existed to deliver exposition and save whatshisface when he was put into that saw trap

The haunted kids thing was hinted even in the first game the thing is it didn't change the fact that you played as a security guard and they wanted you dead. The sister either should have had a role in the second movie or not be in the movie at all, preferably the latter.

There are so many flashes of competence and inspiration in the movie this botching of the second act makes it even more aggravating. If it was just entirely shit I wouldn't care as much but there is a decent movie somewhere in it and it was taken behind the shed by the second act.

I might watch this on streaming after it comes out but I am not expecting much beyond another mediocre movie the most can say is just being objectively flawed instead of woke or subversive. Willy's Wonderland did this better.

I watched the first one on a lark and all I remember is in the first 10 minutes the main character beats up a random dad in a tard rage and all he got was fired. Which is weird because a custody battle was the whole central plot I think, but at no point was the random assault brought up again.

These movies/games/books are just goosebumps for the next generation. I won't shit on them (too hard) for not being Shakespeare/Kubrick.

The whole franchise runs on a bunch of caveats that wouldn’t fly in the real world like a night security guard willing to actually babysit a bunch of murderous animatronic animals with a shady history and all that. It doesn’t really run on regular logic.

That's why I called it goosebumps. Its just some spooky themed stories running on little kid logic. The first movie just took itself too seriously with that premise for kids to enjoy, but not seriously enough for an adult audience. Classic trap of a 10+ year old franchise.

As an aside, if you google five nights at Freddy's you get a little animation overlay. Interesting marketing.
