Its a shame unethical breeders exist to give ones who do it correctly a bad image especially to normgroids who don't understand why "errm I just got $50 cat from the shelter unlike your inred cat" isnt true.
I paid $3500 for my Brit (breeder has gone up to $5000 since then) and he came with multi generation family tree approved by the cat fancy who also require full health checks to make sure specific health issues are not a thing, cat shows often give a % of money to animal shelters and food raised at them as well.
I love my cat.
As a fellow purebred cat aficionado, I recommend finding decent breeders on the TICA and CFA sites. I adore ragdolls and that’s how I’ve found all of my cats. I’m not going to shame anyone for adopting shelter cats, but a predictable purebred temperament with knowledge of any possible health issues is so nice. Plus a well bred cat is so beautiful

Ragdolls have the heart thing that can be genetically tested and no GOOD breeder would sell one with it and pretty sure all cat breeds can get it which is why its also another reason why going to a proper breeder isnt a bad choice over just getting a shelter cat.
Persians are the most popular brachycephalic breeds (short faces) that have been facially fucked up, Brits also have a shorter face but don't suffer anywhere near the problems and nothing considered a health risk... Mine snores and eyes water when he eats because shorter tear ducts lol.
